Wanted - Muvi TV Zambia (68.5E)

Hope MUVI TV is still clear for you. I am in London and struggling to catch MUVI TV. The installers dont know what to do or what satellite to use. I have a MUVI TV Smart Card. What is your advice?

Hi Chipongwe ...
The above post by DX Qwer is well over 12 months old ...plus Muvi Tv does not broadcast on the satellite full time in Cband ..
As you might notice it was a 'feed' caught in 4.2.2 ..
So not intended for general viewing ...so your smart card would be ineffective anyway ..

Perhaps someone more familliar with this Zambian mux will be able to point you at the correct satellite and transponder.

Tricky for those of us who aren't within the intended reception area or footprint.

This is going to be a massive problem for you if you are UK based ..
The satellite is very low on the Horizon ..and will be a problem without a largish dish ...and clear line of sight at such a low elevation..
Might be possible on the East side of the UK ..but no guarantees on this one ..
You need to consult a proffesional satellite installer to get his opinion but I suspect its fringe reception ..and doubtful ..
So unless another provider carries Muvi TV ..
I think you may be out of luck ..

Muvi TV package is now in C-Band on 3803 R 1795 3/4 in DVB-S2 8PSK MPEG-2 @Arabsat 5A 30.5°E.

Useful info Qwer ...but I doubt it being much comfort to chipongwe ...

I don't think I can pull that one on my 1.8pf ..
So possibly of no practical use to him.

I'll check again later ..but suspect he'd need a dish over 2.4 mtrs for that transponder in the UK.
Thats not really a practical size over here without planning permission.

Not a whisper from that transponder, but most of the others are booming in here. Maybe it's down to the low symbol rate (again).

Thank you all for your advice........really a pity tho that it appears to be a tall order for me here in London. If anyone succeeds..please let me know. For those who know......MUVI TV is not a free channel and requires a smart card. dont know if this makes a difference to anything. Thanks

I suspect your best chance ....although slim ...and location dependent is Intelsat 7/10 at 68.5°E

This is going to be tricky for all the reasons already mentioned..
Perhaps 1.2 or 1.4 mtre dish on high up on the roof of a block of flats ...or looking out to sea over flat terrain ...
..then you might have a chance ...but the dish would be almost vertical ...

Movi TV details are below ..
part of another mux and encypted in conax ..
so I suspect this is what you're after.
Don't even consider buying equipment to get this untill you've consulted a professional installer and had a site survey done.

Your best bet would be to post your request and specific details of what you are after in the installers section of the forum ..
You need one who is expert in installing bespoke system requirements ..not just your standard sky installers ...and local to your area ..

We have some excellent professional and knowledgeable installers on here ..but you need to post up all relevant details and requirements in the appropriate section..

..I suspect you are going to need it as a satellite that low on the Horizon is going to be all tall order..
Not impossible ..but difficult ..and a lot depends on your location both physically ..and geographically..

I don't think that the reception of 68,E in Ku band is so difficult in London where mr.chipongwe lives

All that he need is a clear view to the satellite a 1,5 m dish !The 68.5E has 4,6 grd elevation for London and the FEC of the channels is only 1/2 very easy2receive (both in Ku and C band too).For example I can receive here at my location 95East which is under 4 grd elevation with stable signal from channels with 5/6 and 7/8 fec!

You havent thought through the practicalities - much of London has hills around it, and there are hundreds of tower blocks of varioes sizes scattered around.

Also if hes in a typical UK estate theres physically nowhere to put a 1.5m dish - and if its a rough area then it wont last very long anyway!

No problem for him regarding the encryption..
Chipongwe has a viewing card ...
His problem is the low elevation of the satellite in question ..and his geograhical location ...plus possible line of site obstructions.

Mr Chipongwe, I'm going to have my installation in a fortnight and i shall report back to you if I get 68.5E signal, as I am also interested in receiving the MyTV package, as I have have got someone in Zambia bringing back a smartcard to receive the package. Africa Unite as mentioned previously is Muvi TV as well just in case your card doesn't work when you finally get the signal.
