I have noticed that many channel names, encryptions and providers are written with *'s. Why?

I'm guessing that its to hide these words/names from search engines and the like, but to what end? Do we really want to keep our satellite community to such a select few?

Maybe I missed the point Please correct me

It's not required on this forum, but on others it is. Just a force of habit causes folks to do it here.
