Well friends ..
Its the clearest I've seen the stars in the night sky for easily 5 years ...
Its cold crisp and perfect for dxing ..
Had to have another stab at Startimes @10East ...not seen by me since it went to 8psk

I managed to lock briefly ..1 of the three transponders ..
Sadly not the one with fta channels ..so can only post up the F15 screens ..
Still ..it proves how close I am ..to a lock ..
and what signal level is required for that lock ...
A constant 9db is the answer ..
Sadly 9db comes and goes ..and sadly only on the one transponder ..
Ooohhhh so close ...perhaps another 6 inches added to the dish ...yada yada ...

oh well ..
I probably wont sleep till late tonight ..
These skies only come once in a blue moon ..
;)

Thanks Llew ..
I alllmost got a lock on 1 test fta channel on the one locked transponder @ 10East

see photo ..
Sadly not a picture ...but damned close ...

Turned my attention to 43 West ....which is almost impossible for me ..
I say almost ..but I can regularly get a solid lock on Cholusat Sur these days ...
but thats the only transponder .....till now that is ..
Again nothing to post but the F15 screen ....as its a Radio transponder
Radio Nederland Wereldomroep
4000V
but its still another addition to the list..
;)

...and at 55 West ...
No Idea what Hondusat is ..??
Hoduras maybe ?

Anyway ...it apeared twice during the scan ..at 2 diffrent frequencies ...but only one active live feed ..
Some sort of live camera link ....
I know its live ..cos I saw a man walk past the camera...
anyway here it is ...twice in the list ..plus another ..encrypted feed ...labelled Traffic ...

Good morning friends ..
Just in case anyone is curious ..as I was ...
The 3914 transponder @10East I locked last night at 9.1db ..is down at 7.9db this morning..
The cloud cover is back ..
Not thick dark rain cloud ...but thick enough to take over 1db of signal away..
with a bit of tweaking I might get it back over 8db ..but not worth the effort ..now I know what is required.
cest la vie

Had a feeling you might succeed Nelson ..
I am envious ..
Looks like you are getting the weather I got last night ..
No sun and no clear skies here sadly ..
The cloud giveth ..and the cloud taketh away.

I suspect a combo ..of weather ..location -slightly more eastward...& slightly higher altitude ...relative isolation from background noise ..and of course ..the use of an offset dish ..are key elements .
Hmm ..curious there are no fta channels ..
at least 1 transponder is boasting (3948)...6 fta channels ...according to lyngsat ..
Also ...look for CRI test on 3914 ...as It was unencrypted for me last night ...just not strong enough for a picture.

hi -
the lyngsat ones are showing as enrcypted on my reciever -- CRI test on 3914 is certainly strong enough -
and is the only channel flagged as clear - but is just black screen for me --
cloud rolling in now - they will be gone soon i think --l.o.l.

cheers

Just goes to show that Lyngsat is rarely totally up-to-date on C band...and that the chances are ..I had 3914 strong enough last night ...but would never have seen a picture to capture anyway..
cheers buddy

hi VS and Nelson_B today is the first time i have received 3914V 12100 at 78% quality and 3932V 12560 at 73% but the transponder 3948V 16210 is very weak,as you say VS CRI test is in the clear but no picture sound is very good the pids are 351,352,351 which indicates video, strange.cheers
