Hello!
i want to start here, with this topic a contrast ,between currencly avalible isps over satellites, and what kind of speed the realy ofer!

the advertising say us,up to 7-16 mbit and more, but everyone here knows, that one transponder has only 36 mbit, and the complete broadband capaticy, will be splitted to all users that are currencly online!

i used satinternet, maybe 6 year ago, before dsl coming, many thinks has change in the meantime, but the problem,is still the same, like on a mobile phone isp,the download speed is much lower, then the advertising told us!

now,i try to find out, with the help,of the users, that use, this kind of service, what isp on satellite, currencly have the best download performance!
considered, over day and night time (daily) use!
i still think there are still big diffrence!

i am still loking for a programm, where i can measure, the download speed,of any internet connection, and show them,in a graphical presentation,to see the up and downs exactly!

also, very intrest would be to know, are all the internet data still free avalible for all, with a normal dvb logger tool?
in the past ,on 15 west, long time ago, there was a programm for dvb 2000,over scsi, called ip dvb if i remeber right, that logs the complete transponder stream, you pick up one ip,and you can follow this person, storing the sites,in realtime on your hard disc, what the person xy that you follow currencly is watching,is this still posible, also with serval tv aplication, where i see in an old dr dish show, before the programm was closed,i forget the name of the other tools that was using, but i still think, that are most of isp, dont encrypt there data!
the time, when i have last time tested this, there was no 2 way system avalible,i have a dual sending lnb here, from i irish satcompany, with is very haevy around 2 kg,i never tested it because the service was to expensice, maye one year ago,i started, also a topic, with this kind of questions, but i do not get many response,i want to know now more, how the situation, looks at the moment, before the ebird on satellite startet on 38 e,eutelsat told us,that the performance capaticy, will be enough, that, the broadband problem, will dont exists anymore,is there realy a big difrence between astra and eutelsat, services in the speed?

okay thanks all for there input,in this topic!

1. You can buy CIR package, with guaranteed speed.
2. Cheapest/fastest is C band VSAT,from USA ISPs
3. Yes such software is available, Called SkyGrabber

No, that is dual way, prices are quite high, since you're getting whole transponder. Just google for "C band VSAT", there are plenty of choices.

Hello Turok,
Nice thread. Hope you will get a lot of useful replies.:)
Sorry I can't help you, as I don't have a dish pointing to any sat ISP, but I have just upgraded my DSL speed to 4.0Mb/400Kb after some struggle by the telephone company technician.
But to my dismay, I discovered that even with a high speed DSL, I am very dependent on the server bandwidth of the websites that provides the download. When the server is very busy, you get just a trickle of the download.
So take this into account and make sure that the websites that you intend to connect to will guarantee you download speed to match your setup, 24/7, otherwise you will be connecting at odd hours of the day or night.
