Advice Needed Where to find original GTmedia V8X remote

So the one I bought from GTmedia via ebay won't work but apparently if I update the firmware it will but of course without any remote I can't do so so I am wondering if anyone sells the original square edged version with square buttons etc ?

My experience with GTMedia (and their previous brand names) receivers is older remotes work on newer receivers but not vice-versa. I have three GTMedia receivers, from oldest to newest:

'Openbox' V8S - only works with its original remote
Freesat V7 - also works with the V8S remote
GTMedia V9 Prime - also works with V7 and V8S remotes

It may not work like that with all GTMedia receivers but may be worth a shot if you can't find the exact remote.

No I've only the one for my combo and that's no good with the V8X

Its a major problem for some units.
I have 2 similar receivers for which I even ordered various remotes and none works. One shouls always buy a spare just in case when its available.

(one of the reasons I can still work my old PACE Positioner)

Maybe such universal remote could solve your problem.
Did you check oneforall web site? If they have not such specific remote for GTMedia (I don't think so) probably you can find a good solution there.

Going by the available firmware dates the Combo was released after the V8X so it's not surprising.

For my case it was Opticum but they never worked and I got a refund,luckily.
