Hi,
I am new to Satellite and have just bought a dish and cable. My next step is to get a PCI card for my PC. I have been looking at the following.

TechniSat Tunerkarte SkyStar HD 2

Hauppauge WinTV Nova S2-HD

Which one do you guys think is the best and do you think my PC would be up to running HD. Cheers.

The Technisat has a CI CAM option (extra) which enables you to open official packages like adult or foreign if you decide later on on buying, while the Hauppauge doesn't have this option for HD, only for SD.
Just make sure the Technisat card is for satellite.

I got the Technisat about a year ago and am very happy. I run it on a similar set up to what you have and it hasn't missed a beat. Am using the CI module with a UPC card.

The only thing I was disappointed with was the packaged software which I found to slow. But I bought DVBViewer which works very well and has lots of options for HTPC etc.

My Satellite Setup
Covering 30W-105.5E range, two motors, C and Ku band. Various receivers/cards/cams/etc.

Recently I've purchased AverMedia DVB-S Hybrid II card (A706R) and very amazed by just fantastic sensitivity it has! For example, where other receivers (a lot of them checked) report "no signal", this card locks signal, finds channel, and even can partially watch. Where's other have "weak signal" this one displays absolutely trouble free signal.

BIG drawback is:
1. bundled media center software is very limited capability.
2. diseqc control works only in progdvb
