Just logged in the Indian mux
on Amos 5 @17 East

4131 R

Doordarshan
DVB-S2 5530-3/4
8PSK

I had to remove every switch and feed the F15 directly from the lnb...I even removed the Vbox drive link ..
The pips being well and truely squeezed to the max ..
Its intermittent ...balanced on a knife edged and tweaked both the DOS plate and the scalar feed ...
I saw the signal level originally at 5.9 db ...
it turned out I need to squeeze it to 7.8 for even the briefest of locks ...but I did it...
Freak conditions ???who knows...but 8PSK is a killer..
Here are the pics

Gone now ...fragmented lock lasted just 15 minutes..
:(

Now thats Irony...
What you told him is most likely true ..at least for this mux ..
You need a big dish ..and tweaked till the pips squeak..

Just came into lock again ...and with longer periods between fragmentation and dropout...
Looks like this one is going to be very T.O.D dependent..

Ok ..it appears I'm at the optimum time at night for more or less smooth playback from this mux ..
I'm upping a small sample of each channel ..in zip form ..
You will need windows media player classic to play them back..

I suspect I wont get to see the winner...
Starting to fragment again ...
still ...30 minutes solid lock this time ..
I'd call that a successful DX
;)

Quite so CH ...2m ain't that big I spose ...
The point I was trying to make is that for this sat with such variable TOD signals ...a 2m is bordeline at best ..and would require considerable tweaking imo

Just got in from work ...and as expected ..this mux is low signal at 7.5 db ..
Weather is the usual cloudly ..gloomy...and light drizzle ..
No change there ..
What I did notice was that at 11AM this morning signal level on the F15 was hovering in and out of lock ..but no continuity of pictures and sound..(approx 7.7 to 7.9)
Last night around 12:30 the signal appeared to peak at about 8.4 db..so well above lock level.
I shall be watching this tonight to see if I get a repeat performance..though certainly the skies being overcast and heavy with water will not help the cause.
fwiw ..any of our UK Cband DXers wanting to try and log this in ...best after midnight...

You should be seeing some improvement soon Nelson..
Currently hovering between 7.8 and 8.0 db ..and that's with the switches back in line...
If the weather stays reasonable expect a good sustainable lock in about 30 minutes plus

Well at least you confirmed my findings buddy ..
Same here ..solid lock atm ...even with my complex switching on line ..
8.2 - 8.3 db

Not so much dish size as Time of day dependent..
Quite a lot of English spoken as well ...
