I bought this the other day

I was thinking I might be able to use this for elevasion control. Would just need to sort something for a hinge.

It's to tip the gibertini 1.5m or is this a bad idea?

Interesting gizmo.
V-box and actuator in one...
But how would you, ahem, actuate it, I mean, activate it?
I pressume you would need a DiSEqC transmitter to change inclination

Don't really know why I bought it to be honest, it's a polar mount and actuator, covers 15w to 45e

It runs on diseqc 1.2 but, I could always buy a diseqc positioner.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

I've got a few of them, with polarmount. You would have to check how powerful the worm drive is when driven to see if it would lift the dead weight of a reflector, boom and LNB. Of course if you have a counterbalance.....

Hi Chris -
An old Technomate 5500 DAPCI has provision for using a diseqc jack for inclined orbit sats .
i believe it was designed to run a Technomate dual axis mount that never saw the light of day :(
the - 5500 DAPCI - has normal 36 volt output and diseqc -- for a diseqc incline jack ... and provision in the menus for setting them up .
i still have one of these receivers in use driving my 1.2 c.m. with home made elevation control ,
although i don,t have a diseqc jack .... so the standard elevation jack is driven through a V box.
and although i,v had it set up to auto adjust elevation settings in the past -- i now tend to just manually move the incline jack with the v box remote , on the odd occasions that i need to :)

A frw things for me to think about. I bought it thinking it might be handy.

The whole lot delivered from eBay was £25, it might pay off it might not.

Was it packaged in the triangular box ?
Can you provide the auction number, or a link ?

I think scopus uses this same jack for elevation control, so your idea is a good one.

These work ok --- the arc is a bit limited though --
i had one given to me along with a T.M. receiver and 70 metre dish attached ... in a very rusted state a couple of years ago .. and restored it to working again.
i gave it away in the end, to a retired chap who lives near by ... just to tinker around with ... its still going strong :)

Chris you could use that gadget I was looking at to control the cctv, you pointed me to it in the cctv thread.

As I use a v box and remote to move the dish, I maybe able to use the diseqc positioner in the box. If not one of those diseqc left/right positioner we talked about with the cctv.

Certainly do CJ. Mine is fitted on the 1224 with the 1.2 Precision. Lifts and drops the dish no problem. I use a mini Diseqc controller. The 18V power supply I use is on old switch mode power supply fed to the controller via a piece of co-ax. Works well indeed. I'll do some pictures later.
