In SDT image you see /usb directly under the root (as hdd). Previously (I'm not sure to remembere well) I found /usb under /mnt ... :)

The trick is to tell dreambox that its hard-disk is a remote one. PCD well explained this in another thread http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/forum/showpost.php?p=211335&postcount=9 :)

maybe it depends with which software you connect to dreambox? I use DCC (Dreambox Control Center), which has integrated FTP, editor, change attributes for files.... (and a lot of other functionalities) The user ("root", pwd "dreambox") preconfigured on dreambox has all rights to write on file...

No, I don't think. Maybe you already know that if you keep pressed the forward button (while playing) you're asked at which minute of the recording you want to go)..... :)

@121fred: You can install emus both via internet and in manual mode. In manual mode you've to put the emu files (.tar.gz) to /tmp , then do a "manual" install (Boss Panel -> utilities -> install addons -> manual) :)

By default, DB segments a recording in 1gbyte chunks (one film is usally 3-4 files). You can setup db to do bigger files, so you can have one recording = one file , but problems can arise after when you want to transfer these files on your PC (for example Samba don't transfer bigger files)...

Flashwizard does much more! When you're putting a new image (in usb/hd), you can check to put all the setting of the current image in the new one, so you've to do nothing after that! (well, if I remember well only the keys are not transferred....)

Few time ago I asked the same question to linux developers, they told me that it's only a Windows problem, linux hd not need to be defragmented :)

Italian forums are full of threads about freezes during sky(nds) recordings , and the problem is not fixed with newcamd 6.01 (but of course each encryprition system is different, and I don't know which systems are used for MV, or ATM...) Here in Italy the problem has been solved few days ago...
