Has anybody tried out the new Freesat 4K Boxes in fringe reception areas outside UK? It would be good to know how they compare with the Humax Freesat PVRs which were very good in this regard. My Humax has died but I am wary about going for one of the new boxes without knowing how will perform...
Hi Ian
I'm not sure if there have been any developments since your last post, but I thought I'd share my impressions as my situation is similar to yours as I am in Navalcarnero - not far from you.
The biggest factor in receiving Astra 2D in our part of the world is dish size. I have a 1.8m...
Guess I'm more or less ready to wind up this thread now.
In the end I've installed the C120 Invacom quad with a (pricey) Channel Master offset feedhorn supplied by satellite superstore.
My first impression after a few days of use is that this combination shows a NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT over...
I am 30km South-West of centre of Madrid.
DISH: Prodelin 1.8m offset with its own feedhorn
LNB: SHARP LNB BS1R6EL 100W
SKYBOX: PACE 430N (newer version of the 2600)
My experience:
- BBC and ITV vertical 2D channels (mainly BBC1 & ITV1 regions - e.g. BBC1 South, ITV Granada, but not London): No...
Thanks for the clarification, Dave. I seem to have been mislead by the Forum's designation of you as a "specialist contributor".
Given that Invacom say I can't use their C120 quad with a non-C120 feed, my choice appears to be to scrap the existing feed and either:
* Install Invacom quad with...
Well, I could ditch the current feed and use a C120 feed instead (e.g. Invacom's own feedhorn). Which brings me back to my earlier question - will I get better reception with a C120 model than with its integrated feed equivalent? This is what you experts don't seem to agree on.
PS. Just to...
Thanks for your advice, Likvid. As a newbie, it leaves me slightly perplexed though, as it contradicts Dave's view (another specialist contributor) that there is nothing to be gained from choosing C120 over integrated. Who is right on this?
Is my dish the crucial factor? Just to recap, it is a...
Sorry to be such a pain about this, but I want to be really sure before I order the new LNB.
Yes, the dish is an offset 1.8m by Prodelin. Will I get better reception if I go down the C120 route rather than using Invacom's intergrated feed?
And what if I can't match the C120 to the (Prodelin)...
Having corresponded with both Invacom & Prodelin, I am now not sure which LNB to use.
According to Invacom I should use their integrated feedhorn model as (according to Prodelin) the F/D of my dish is 0.6.
I assumed I should use a LNB with separate feedhorn because that's what it was installed...
OK, I've removed the philips screws.
The adaptor (if that's what it is) is attached by those screws to the LNB. The back of the feedhorn fits inside the adaptor, secured by an allen-screw.
I've included new pictures. You can see the allen-screw clearly on the outer ring of the adaptor in the...
OK - I've had a look under the cover.
With my limited knowledge, it's not clear to me how the feedhorn is attached to the LNB, but I have included piccies with the cover off for the experts to look at. These come up well-detailed if you click on the thumbnails.
