As an aside as a newbie to all of this we all ended up getting sent to the Satellite Store which was maybe not so super. He must have become a millionaire off us punters. The original 422 receivers he was knocking out at £2k a pop!
Thank you very much. Makes you wonder why they encrypted them and caused us all so much grief all those years ago? The joys of blind scanning in the morning and watching SIS doing sound checks beckons. Hopefully the lovely Zoe Bird and not Luke Harvey tomorrow!!!
As an aside and to vouch for my certifiable obsession with all of this. After the racetech SIS stuff was encrypted in 2005 I was seriously looking at installing a 2.4M motorised dish on the roof of the house. This was to track C Band over RSA. I was told that there were feeds going to Tellytrack...
I appreciate every point that you make. Yes I do want the feeds back for betting in running purposes but also because they were in High Definition which is a rare treat for us racing afficianados. I will endeavour not to contravene your rules and keep within the spirit of the forum at all...
Can anyone confirm the following:
What satellites SIS & Turf TV use to send out their outside broadcasts to the studios?
If any or all of these feeds are encrypted?
One additional point. Since my feedhunting activities were curtailed SIS has given some of it's coverage to Racing UK offshoot "Turf TV". My question is do Turf TV use SIS to beam the signals or do they have their own satellite trucks? If they do have their own operation are the transmissions...
Yes. Hadn't seen that sticky very illuminating it was as well. A few points are quite irksome. I gave up on the feeds in about 2005 and it seems that there were still plenty of SIS from UK racecourses in 2008. My loss then.
I am very keen to get involved still and won't waste anyone's time on...
Hi I had no reception for Attheraces. Local installer recommended a 1.6M dish and its now OK all day, along with everything else. The solution is a bigger dish as I have a number of receivers in the house and switching them around made no real difference.
