This has just worked for ages and does exactly what was wanted. Other things that do the job seem to have PITA UIs.

It became unresponsive with just the red indicator on. After power cycling, there were no LEDs on but the HDD spun up. Nothing out of the HDMI although the TV sensed something was there. 12V external supply is OK. The HDD has +5V but no +12V (did it ever?). Prodding around the board, a few of the electrolytics have sensible voltages e.g. 12V, 3.3V & 5V.

I've ordered a used, working, STB only from Ebay but has anyone fixed one or got any service information, please?

I would replace all the capacitors on the PSU board - no doubt that will resolve most, if not all, of the issues.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

I would swop out the psu for the new one before going to board level repairs, but take pictures of each to compare batch numbers/ scorching/component upgrades.

Keep the functioning unit in a cold room away from any heat sources (other TV kit).

Thanks both. The wall wart PSU is fine but checked box using a lab PSU.
There are no unusually hot bits (see IR pic). The cold bits include the Broadcom 3641 DVB ICs which are shiny so don't show their correct temperature.
There are 2 triple output PSU ICs (TPS65261) both of which have Power OK pins showing OK. The one on the right feeds separate 1V supplies to the DVB chips. I can't find any data from Broadcom but I guess they could be low voltage. The other rails all have believable voltages (3.3, 5 etc)
There's nothing coming out of the CVBS socket

I'd have to remove the board to change all the caps but don't have time right now and I'm not convinced there's anything wrong with the supplies. I'll wait for the Ebay delivery and might compare the 2 units.
