What exactly is "digital first". MPEG is digital?

I read the document. The summary is that they are very excited about firing lots of people.
And of course it is very disruptive <add your management terms here>.

The beginning of the end...

It is nonsense industry speak for moving to streaming only. Channel 4 has form for such guff - not long ago it was saying watching anything on a linear channel was 'live' even when it is obviously prerecorded - 'stream now or watch live tomorrow at 8pm'.

Pleasant surprise, looking at the beam and reception reports managed to secure the attached as:-

Alicante, España.......1.8m Marrafa, 15.4ºC and cloudy.

Reception tuned thanks to the GoldMaster SR-525HD.

Octagon SF8008 4k Twin and GT Media Combo compare.

Pleased. :Y
I wonder If I had any chance to pick anything on my 125x140 Famaval, 20 km eastwards of Cartagena. It's a fixed dish pointed to Astra 2 UK beam so I am not willing to focus it on the other orbital position.

It appears that the beam "northsea" is used for this frequency !
Signal in only 2-3db here 2.4m. Location is on edge of the northsea coverage area

Have 1.4m offset but unable to test 15.0ºw at the mo, sorry.

Using the 1.2 PF I cannot secure the needed 11043 V 44100 but attach the values of the easier received ESPN transponder 12609 H 07552.

You have a decent dish with your 1.4m offset so when convenient perhaps give it a try and see..........nature of the hobby. :D

Good luck. :Y

Still dont believe me about the advantages of ip delivery of tv for broadcasters?

Read this

I see your point. But makes you think how reliable TCP/IP is when all William Hill shops are still using Astra 4.8e.

I can now scan in the encrypted 15W BBC backup channels fine on a 60cm with Engima2. But no picture all encoded.

Latency I imagine is the biggest issue there, so many betting shops around the country with variable internet. Even 2 seconds of buffering at the wrong time will be unacceptable.

Becomes even more important when doing in-play betting where during horse races the odds can suddenly change very fast. I suspect that until it becomes affordable to give every bookmaker a dedicated un-contented fibre feed with barely any latency loss, a direct satellite feed will be around for some time to come.

It's a different kettle of fish however for home entertainment which aren't showing live sports - the latency of a few seconds is not much of an issue.

yes, only BISS (it should be more correct to say CCW, since CAID is not defined in PMT)

As I mentioned in the other thread, better signal (BBC frequency) during the day than at night.

I have a difference of just over 2 db of signal, between the best time of day and at night, which is when the signal levels drop the most.
