We've got a Landrover Discovery which is 1.6m wide and I intended to ratchet on two scaffold bars to the existing bars to make them wide enough, it's the same way we've transported 1.8m fence panels.

Sounds OK, I will PM you my address.

aceb,

I have gathered together all of the ancilliary bits and pieces that go with the dish except for the machined aluminium block feedhorn that sits at the focal point of the dish. I have searched for this for a day or so and just cannot find it. The larger C Band / Ku Band feedhorn with LNB's is present but the smaller feedhorn is missing. If you wish to cancel the transaction then I fully understand, if you wish to proceed then I am OK to do so.

On a point of information, the machined aluminium block feedhorn is available from Elite Antennas who hold all the old Precision tooling but I am not sure of the cost.

Please let me know how you wish to proceed.

I've replied via PM but as I can't seem to add pics to a PM do you know if the 1.8 Ku feed looks like this?

aceb,

Yes, that is the unit, they are the same design style for the range of Precision dishes from 1.2m up to 1.8m and possibly 2.2m. However, please note that I think the concentric circles are different depending on the specific size of the dish and although one from a 1.2m dish will work on a 1.8m dish it might not get 100% illumination from the dish face.

I have PM'd you contact details and address, see you Sunday AM

Good luck for tomorrow Paul ...
I hope the collection goes without a hitch .
Looks like you should get a good weather day for it ...unlike ooop North ...where more cloud and rain is on the cards..
Not the best weather for casting in papier mache ...but things are progressing albeit slowly..between showers.

Cheers VS, I've just been bolting the ladders to the roof of the car and it's a lovely spring day out there, blue skies and no wind. Chucked in about a mile of rope and some ratchet straps so we're ready to go lol Hopefully the weather is going to be the same as it is now, as we intend coming back over Ashdown Forest it could be an ideal spot to stop for a coffee. Sorry the weather is a bit grim oop north, you'll have to get an RF transparent gazebo :D

The 1.8 has landed :D We're back home without incident although it did turn a few heads on the drive back, surprised we didn't cause a pile up! This was taken in Tesco car park waiting for Mrs Aceb to get back with the bacon

Nothing there yet!

I am, however, intrigued at how the bacon will help: Are you going to use the fat to protect the dish face?

I mean, after Vipersan's exploits, I wouldn't turn a hair at anything that goes on with you big job chaps.

Seen the pic now ............... very well strapped down indeed.

Perhaps the proletariat thought you were heading for a "World's Biggest Paella" gig?

Tis a thing of beauty complete with the Precision logo on the face of the reflector, I fully understand now why Moonbase was so protective over it :-worship

Excellent.

Well I shall give this Thread a graceful retirement now - and look forward to hearing of your further exploits in installing, commissioning and operation quite soon!

Getting out from under that dish must've been quite a squeeze
