Checked again at 11 :00 AM on my own TV ..
Nothing left on Analogue ...
...and neither BBC1 /2 / ITV / CH4 / CH5 / etc on digital freeview ..
A re-scan of the digital transponders brought everything back ....and have just advised my old dad to do the same ..
I appears ALL feeview channels have been juggled around ...yet again..
Not a problem in itself ...but as there isn't even a barker channel informing what to do .. I suspect the phone will be ringing hot for many TV shops & Aerial installers today..

Are you sure about BBC1 as it's there this morning without a retune?

Absolutely it had gone just after midnight, checked more than one TV, but may have gone back up for some reason, perhaps the digital feed was taken off the analogue and they had not realised:cool:

Cannot check now am currently in Sheffield

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

You know, I saw the first public display on the retune yesterday, it was down an obscure side street in Nelson... :-rofl2

Right, going to retune my Oggles now, and will report back as to whether they're effed up or not... :)

Yep, still effed up, I think it's having two transmitters in easy reception range that is really screwing things up, the two boxes are not discriminating, sooo they think the transmitters they're picking up are a single transmitter and getting the channels all muddled up!!! :confused

I dunno, setting up a satellite receiver and manually programming and scanning for channels seems like a doddle compared to this!!! :-rofl2

Sounds like you're doing an automatic tune and need to do a manual tune.

After the Nov 4 change all the DTT devices at our house, except one, were able to retune automatically. Only one gave me a problem as it put the Welsh versions of BBC1 and BBC2 at positions 1 and 2. I had to phone the helpline number and get the channel numbers that the muxes were actually using and then do a manual tune on these channels.

Since then, no problems. Not even the annoying one I had been getting since September (or whenever it was) when Five was shuffled around. After that Virgin 1 (but not the +1 version) would disappear off the EPG after a short period of time. Other channels that would sometimes disappear were Dave, ITV3 and Five itself. I now think that this one DTT device was picking up the Welsh versions of all of those and then losing them as a result.

Anyway, my retune comes when I get home tonight. Not enough time to do it this morning.

Indeed Paul is correct...where possible a manual tune of specific mux's is preferable _IF_ there more than one transmitter is within receiving distance..
Sadly manual tune isn't always an option ..
My dad has a Humax dtvpvr which only allows automatic tuning of the entire spectrum .
To get round this one ...I unplug the aerial during the first half of the autoscan ...and plug it back in during the scan at approx halfway through ..
This then ignores the Welsh BBC channels ...and correctly places our BBC regionals from Winter Hill ..

Obviously some 'in the know' guys on this thread ..
Just curious as to how much of the spectrum will be re-used for digital TV (HD in particular) ...
Or has HMgvt got designs on any spectrum freed up for 'selling' off to private enterprise..

The 3G auction of usuable spectrum springs to mind..
It certainly filled the treasury koffers at the time with some very scary sums of money involved at the time...

Somewhere on this forum there is a chart that I posted about three months ago, showing the UHF channels that are to be re-allocated away from terrestrial television broadcast. (damned if I can find it though).

From memory about 20-30% of the UHF spectrum was going.

If that's the case then we're going to have another round of retuning.

After the DSO Winter Hill is using channels 61 and 62.

For information of anyone wanting to do a manual retune of Winter Hill the channels are as follows:

BBC A (Mux 1) 62-
D3&4 (Mux 2) 59
SDN (Mux A) 58
BBC B (Mux  54- (The new HD channel)
Arquiva A (Mux C) 61-
Arquiva B (Mux D) 55

The minus after 62, 54 and 61 is not a misprint. It shows that the channels have negative offset which is necessary if, amongst other reasons, an adjacent channel is also being transmitted from the same site. I've been doing some reading this evening about this subject which, I think, is causing me some problems with my Vestel based PVR.

...Hmm ..
A bit naughty if they move the muxs too far away from their current frequencies for the area ..
A major shift would neccessitate not only retunes but a completely different aerial fitting..
They could conceivably be in a different band ..
Thats more expense for the punter ..

Not really. Anything shifted downwards is less likely to necessitate a change of aerial, and once the analogue stuff goes, the powers that be will crank it up.

Polarity change is of course something you can't ignore.
