Being jammed by the Iranians? Wouldnt be the first time they have interfered with a Eutelsat signal

I agree Iran is up to dirty tricks again as the news on Euronews has not been very favourable to them over the last few days.

The Iranians have got it down to a fine art - They have nailed Eutelsat tp#s several times over the last few years when the news channels have been unfavourable to them

i dont know because i thought they wouldnt be able to effect the transponder if they are not in the spotbeam

Anyway Hotbird doesnt have spotbeams - the beams are ultra wide covering western Europe well over almost as far as India.

Even if there were spotbeams it wouldnt matter as the important bit is the uplink not the downlink. Every tp has its own uplink frequency.The onboard electronics on the craft do some amplification and frequency shifting for the re-radiated downlink.

Soooo if a nefarious state decides to get rid of some undesirable channels all they have to do is point a suitably sized uplink dish at the craft carrying the undesirable channel and fire a signal at it on the tp uplink frequency for that particular frequency.
