hi,

Any tips on getting 26e, I seem to get some 26e channels but with no vision or sound plus a lot of BBC and German channels and one I do not reconise Dance Trippin.

Thanks.

shadbolt.

Sounds like you are getting 28E and/or 23.5E during your alignment attempts.

("Dance Trippin" is a 23.5E Channel)

What size Dish are you using?

The problem with 26E is that as it is relatively close to the strong Satellites either side, you might need a dish size greater than the footprint suggests - not for gain, but for narrowing the beamwidth in order to reject 28E and 23.5E.

Sounds like you may have stumbled across Astra1 @ 19e and 28e.
26e will require careful alignment and a decent size dish for NI,

Indeed it is tricky to get just 26East and no overspill either side ..even on the 1.25 Gibby..
This is one sat I don't blind scan ...
Manual transponder scan only..for this very reason.
Getting awfully crowded up there on the arc.

Align the dish spot on for 28E, then monitor 12182H, and move it westward a bit. Assuming the dish is big enough of course.

Yes, 12182 H is my favourite transponder, this using a penta 85cm in the northeast of england. Perhaps i am biased but the penta is ideal for a smaller dish, it seems very well focused thus better for rejecting nearby positions.

I'm having the exact same problem in Central London with a 1.1 M dish and Technomate receiver. Cannot get a lock with my Horizon HD S2

I am getting 11.2 dB signals on 12182 in the same part of the world as the OP. The very slightest dish adjustment on the F15 receiver will make the signal go down by 3 or 4 dB. This does not happen on any other satellite so the set up at 26 East is very critical.

Off topic when I was checking the various tp's I noticed 11977 with the Kuwaiti channels seems to be off the air. I can't see any news of that on Lyngsat etc but maybe it has been the case for a while. Some of the same channels are available on 12523 but much weaker than 11977 was.

To satelliteman, vipersan, robbo, geordyjohn, ryrazzer, and dxhound2003, thanks for your help the dish size is 1.8 and I did get the Yemen using tp 12182 but then I got a bit cocky fiddiling around and lost everything but taking on board your replies if I keep my cool I,ll get there.

Thank again,

shadbolt.
