Did a blind scan last night and found a transponder at 28.2°e with some labels on but channels come in as no signal.

28.2°e 11.970V 27500 Auto

Channel labels:

CCTV-A
TEST
BBC World News HD
TV5 MONDE STYLE HD
A1 Shop
Libya Alwatnya
Algeria TV
CNNi SD

Has this been here a while, I don't remember reading anything about it.

Dish is out then, probably causing your other signal problems in the past

Probably picked the NIT up off Badr 4 - you certainly wont get Badr 6 on a zone 1.

Your dish also probably needs tweaking eastwards a fraction :D

Your probably right about picking up the nit, sounds logical.

I would tweek the dish but its on the chimney and has been for years, its done well I guess, no noticeable signal drop on the other channels.

I can upload a picture of the scan results if you are sceptical.

Not entirely sure the signal issues at the time were down to alignment as at the time I was getting the same problems with a second zone1 dish with a much newer lnb, plus my BSkyB box has always been fine.

I put it down to the power going to the lnb, I get round it by keeping the Dr HD permanently on and using an external isolator switch to change the single feed to my BSkyB box.

This may have been an uplink test intended for 26 East (Badr 7), with a badly aligned uplink dish.
If the 11973 V transponder of Astra is not switched off, it will forward whatever is received.

A member on this forum " sceptical " , perish the thought.

You have one exceptional dish, and a box that lies to you.
Those ch´s are on 11785V from badr 5 PAN -ARAB beam which goes nowhere near the UK, I get it here no problem on the motorised 1.2 ( 14.9 dB ) but there is nothing from that bird on 11970 V. Your stb is stating the wrong frequency, for sure. And you should not be able to get badr 5 PA in the UK on a zone one dish.
Either there´s a ghost in the machine, or hdvh is correct and there has been a major faux pas

The uplink frequency used for 11785V on BADR may have corresponded to 11973V on Astra and since 11973V isn't in use it wouldn't have been noticed by many otherwise I assume it would have the effect of jamming if two uplinks try and send something at the same time.
