Currently got standard 43cm Sky dish running with a Vu+ Solo2 receiver at 28.2e and now looking at maybe getting a bigger dish so I can get more satellites and in particular 26e for some of the Al Jazeera sports channels.

I live on the South coast and would like to know:
1) Can I receive both 28.2e and 26e on 1 dish?
2) What size dish will be needed for that?
3) Will I need multiple LNB's or can I use one quad LNB?
4) Recommended retailers (not ebay)

Am thinking a 97cm dish will do the job but do people think bigger? From my research I think I can get about a 10 degree span of frequencies so if my primary angle is 26e I should be able to get 28.2e easily and maybe others.

hi ashthekid you would need at least 1.2cm dish for 26E.

Or another option is to just get a 2nd dish.
Would it still need to be at least a 120cm dish for 26E?

We're getting metres and centimetres mixed up here. ;)

I don't think it would be very easy to get both 28.2E and 26E on 1 dish as they are so close together, although on a larger dish the LNBs will be further apart but not sure if anyone has tried it?

I tried on a Triax TD88 and found it impossible. It might be ok on say a 1 metre dish using slimline LNB's but in the OP's case I think he would be better off with a seperate dish in excess of a metre. In any case if the OP is after Al Jazeera Sports +6 to +10, they are on Badr 6 and I think you'd struggle to get them even on a 1.2 metre.

Yeah I think you're right.
I might not bother researching anymore, I reckon for the channels I want it won't work or is going to cost too much for so little extra. I'll just stick to my current setup and maybe go down the IPTV route.
Thank you for your comments.

Badr 6 for Al Jaz Sports showing the footy will need getting on for a 2m dish.

You can get Badr 4 easily on a 1m dish even here in south Scotland (loss of signal in bad weather tho)

I live on the South Coast with a Fibo 1.28m dish only satellite i can receive on the dish is Nilesat as it has no motor. I understand badr and astra 2 use the same/similar frequencies and symbol rates. I recommend not getting a Quad LNB because Single lnb's have a far superior signal. Al Jazeera Sport 1 will be easy to receive but the Subscription channels wont be. Nilesat is easier to pick up than BADR for Al Jazeera Sport Subscription channels (All Al Jazeera Sport channels work fine for me apart from +6 to +10 which is exactly the same as hd1 to hd6). If you want English tv and Al Jazeera Sport get a 1.2m dish with 2 single lnb's one at 7w Nilesat and 27w Intelsat which has Freeview channels. Good luck

Just to let you know ashthekid, I tried Al Jazeera +6 to +10 on my 1.2M dish tonight. Their transponder is locking but at 4.9dB which wouldn't leave a great margin for rain fade. Also bear in mind that although I'm in Northern France I'm still a fair bit south of you.

That's interesting that you're receiving Nilesat 201 in Northern France - I guess there's hope for us yet! (not that I care about Al Jaz Sport)

Yeah but only Nilesat 102 and Eutelsat 7W is receivable on a dish that size.... In fact, it's probably JUST Eutelsat 7W he's receiving. There's far more up there to be received from that location.

I recommend looking into 7w rather than 26e. I get aj sports fine using a 1m triax but isnt very good during certain times of the day or when it's raining. You'll probably need a 1.2m dish for reliable 7w reception.

On a 1.2m dish if you put 26E at the focal point (with an LNB like the black Ultra that has sizable feedhorn) and the other LNB touching it you will be nearly 3º over on the second LNB. I guess for 28E in the UK this would be ok, but not ideal.

Yes my black ultra feedhorns overlap slightly for 13e and 16e but there is a gap to the mti on 19e on a 1m.

You can get 28e on a bin lid in the UK so it could be 4 degrees off and still fine!
