For 3.0W in a UK location a 1.2m dish can often be on the small side.
No problems 'ere down saarf in leafy Surrey with a 1.5m dish, decent signal levels today.

Hi @moonbase
Thanks a million for reply.

What receiver are you using? I see Openvix and blind scan on Engima2?

1.2M Channel Master and a Inverto Black Ultra 0.2dB Single LNB PLL

Seems to be time for upgrading to the Sat system........

For the pictures I attached above in reply 22 I used an Octagon SF8008 twin DVB-S2X receiver.
Blind scan is included in the build of the OpenVix image I installed in the receiver.

WOW! - I want one of this........ That looks crazzy. So I see you have C-band, KU, KA?

Please note that @scopus is one of the top men on the UK dx scene, he has equipment that is drool fodder, worth quite a few bags of sand.
It would not be a low cost option to setup and install equipment to that level.

If you want have a reasonably good chance to get 3.0W feeds ooop North my suggestion would be to go for a 1.5m dish as minimum, preferably a 1.8m.
Perhaps look for something second hand on eBay or facebook, there are setups listed now and again and they have been selling at value wad lately.

Yup Im in Scotland (Fife) and you need a 1.8m for rainy days to get 3w reliably. 1.5m would be OK if it was dry and it wasn't a hugely weak feed.

This is a scan from right now, clear blue skies:

You'll really struggle to get that 7.5db one on a rainy day or on a smaller dish

Completely agree, I can get a lock on those now on my triax but a sniff of rain and they would be lost

Test cards, the odd shot of rehearsals, countdown clock before sections start, sometimes a bit of chatter during the adverts. All in all nothing to get excited about.

Am I right in saying there aren't any 24/7 channels on 3w anymore? There used to be a channel that simply had an image of the satellite name which was helpful in finding 3w. I had lost it's position until you posted these OBs I knew were active so thanks for that.

Yes, correct, the Italian stuff left sometime back. A few data channels left.
