I too considered this Chris ...but I wanted as near lossless as possible with minimal compression..
and direct conversion rather than through a 'middle man' /CD
And not in track form ...just Side A Side B ....as though flipping the album ..
So the internal ADC would be relevant for flac I think..

Agreed ..but there is no line in on the lappy ..only mic in ..Don't need any mods, just a pre-amp of somesort and an RCA to 3.5mm cable to connect to the Line-in on the computer...

WAVs are a proprietary Microsoft format IIRC. They are less universally playable on different devices than MP3s. The upside is that they take up less space than MP3s for a given symbol rate - about half IIRC again.
So ..thats me bolloxed ...
