PBS UK will launch as a pay channel on November 1st.

Programme content details:

PBS UK will not order content initially, but will mine its extensive US catalogue and secure UK premieres of series newly ordered for the channel.

Correct - and there was never any real likelyhood of it launching fta - Ive known for weeks it was going to be a pay channel but I was told not to say anything.

Not one of Mr. M's favourite broadcasters over the pond. Won't raise any hackles if they stick to docs and series.

Too bad this won't be fta for you folks on the east side of the pond. But maybe you have something that is comparable or better anyway. I really like PBS, lots of documentaries, and I especiallly like the British comedies:)

Our version is bound to be different to yours due to rights issues. I would be surprised if they can show British comedies for example as the rights will have been sold to UK channels.

Don't need PBS starman - we have the best public broadcaster anyway - the BBC.
