Amos 7 (was Asiasat 8) 4W

Hi! From last night I am monitoring signal levels on 12315H. Collected almost 12000 independent measurements and built this graph. As you can see, signal is not the same during the day. I do not know exact period of the variations, but, taking lots of measurements, I think, it is possible to figure it out.

I am getting it with a signal of 7.25db with a 1.2 and 12.21 db with a 1.5Dish.
Now with the 1.2 the signal went up to7.75/8.00db

12315H works here most of the time at 7.3dB right now (8am UK time).

No problem with 11589H - over 11dB.

Shame TVH has moved from AMOS 2 11543H 3700 to AMOS 3 11590H 3700 . European Beam on AMOS 3 is not good!!!! .

You should be able to see it with a 1.2m dish - the signal isn't weak at all here.

A very tight European footprint on some of the Amos-3 "Free to Air European" transponder beams 11139 H & 11176 H that will replace 10759 H & 10722 H on Amos-2 will lead to loss of these services in the East of England with a 100cm dish.

TVH has left Amos-2 & moved to Amos-3 11590 H 3700 no signals here now on what is probably a Central European Beam & not a Wide European Beam as some map suggests,

A very tight European footprint on some of the Amos-3 "Free to Air European" transponder beams 11139 H & 11176 H that will replace 10759 H & 10722 H on Amos-2 will lead to loss of these services in the East of England with a 100cm dish.

Those are indeed very weak and barely lock on the 1.8m.

TVH has left Amos-2 & moved to Amos-3 11590 H 3700 no signals here now on what is probably a Central European Beam & not a Wide European Beam as the map suggests.

I am still surprised at this, since it's one of the strongest transponders on this satellite for me!

You are probably getting better reception due to the 180cm you are using

I am just comparing 11589H signal to other comparable ones elsewhere. For example, I get similar levels on some of the weaker Astra 4A Nordic transponders, which I could all get comfortably enough on a 1m dish - though with a much smaller rain margin.

Clearly something going on with footprints - I hate this spot, it makes no sense and was always a pain to receive here.

And bigger dish means less 5W influence in this case 11591H30000 is a feed tp at 5W. They are not smart and using 11450-11700H range for Europe beam again as well as 5w do so i suggest to try to lock TVH at 3-3.5W positions.

This TP is only very marginally stronger than 11589H... by about 0.2dB!

I have tried that 3.8 west gives a better signal on Amos-3 transponders but not enough to illuminate TVH sad to say & 4.0 west is better on Amos-2 & Amos-7 .
