This morning I got the first REALLY NASTY Bitcoin extortion email I've had!
I forwarded it to'
NFIBPhishing@city-of-london.pnn.police.uk' with these comments
- The Password quoted in the mail was changed some months ago, and the site in question (*****) is not one I ever used for “social contacts”
- All my (many!) accounts have different passwords.
- I have a Facebook account, but that was not/never has been my Facebook password, and I have never used Facebook Messenger
- To the best of my knowledge, I’ve not visited mature content sites in (at least!!!) the last ten-15 years except very occasionally by accident and if I did I then immediately left those sites.
Also: the email is timed as Sent on 09 October at 23.00, but it arrived in my Inbox at around 08.57 this morning (10th Oct) so it looks like it would nominally have been sent from somewhere in a timezone about 8-9hrs behind the UK.
It came nominally from a "Chrystal Satta" with an @outlook.com address, and it read (the quoted password having been replaced by ****, and part of the Bitcoin account number is also redacted) as follows:
"
I do know ******** one of your pass words. Lets get directly to purpose. No one has paid me to check about you. You may not know me and you're probably wondering why you are getting this e-mail?
Well, i actually setup a malware on the adult videos (pornography) site and do you know what, you visited this web site to have fun (you know what i mean). When you were viewing videos, your web browser started out functioning as a Remote Desktop having a key logger which provided me with access to your screen and webcam. after that, my software gathered your complete contacts from your Messenger, FB, as well as e-mailaccount. after that i created a double video. 1st part shows the video you were watching (you have a fine taste lol . . .), and next part displays the view of your webcam, & it is u.
You get two choices. Lets study these types of options in particulars:
1st solution is to just ignore this message. in this instance, i am going to send out your very own video recording to all your your personal contacts and then consider regarding the embarrassment you can get. and definitely if you are in an intimate relationship, just how it is going to affect?
2nd choice would be to give me 9000 USD. We will describe it as a donation. as a consequence, i most certainly will right away delete your video. You could resume your daily life like this never occurred and you will not ever hear back again from me.
You'll make the payment via Bitcoin (if you don't know this, search for 'how to buy bitcoin' in Google).

in case you are curious about going to the law, well, this message cannot be traced back to me. I have covered my moves. i am just not trying to charge you very much, i prefer to be paid for. i have a specific pixel in this mail, and now i know that you have read through this e-mail. You now have one day to make the payment. if i don't get the BitCoins, i will send your video recording to all of your contacts including relatives, co-workers, and so forth. Having said that, if i do get paid, i'll destroy the recording right away. if you want to have proof, reply Yea and i will send your video to your 6 contacts. This is a non-negotiable offer that being said do not waste mine time and yours by responding to this email message."
