i own a TM5302HD and a DR-HD F15 (TM5402HD in disguise) and the TM5302HD knocks the socks off the F15 for blind scanning low SR feeds ive found. the TM5402HD is an excellent box and the couple of issues it has could be fixed with sw if/when they get around to it. these are just my own observations and the TM5402HD is tm,s best selling closed source reciever for a reason. enjoy your purchase

Congratulations Tony1A, please share your opinion here.
By the way, what are main differences between 5402 and 5302?

I think the tm5302hd only has a card slot and no cam slot.

I'm also on the look out for a new receiver and was looking at the 5402hd.

I'm still using a vantage x221ci which is quick for blind scanning but no hd.

When I have taken delivery and got it all sorted, then I'll give my thoughts on the box here. But yeah, those boxes do have quite a sensitive tuner in them!

I wonder why Linux receiver manufacturers do not use those sensitive tuners used by Dr.HD or Technomate (5402 HD).

Without any hesitation....the TM5402HD seems to be the best choice! :)

I have to say that my Uno's tuner is no less sensitive than Dr HD F15's. Marginal signals on Uno remain marginal on F15.

The skybox f3s appears to lock very low snr 23% ish but plug my tm on the the same feed its 53% :-0, doing test in the past the t/m 1500 beat any box I own on a weak lock in sd, boxes tested was tm 3000d t/m 6900 topfield 7700 and a innovative,

I do rate t/m boxes a good solid box that wont let you down puts the dish were it should go and lots of support :-)
good choice tony imho :-).

You can't compare signal quality like that across receivers as they are purely for information purposes. From what I understand, on a typical DVB-S 3/4 TP, a TM needs around 52% of indicated quality to lock. This is equal to around 4.5-5dB SNR when looking at F15 (essentially the same receiver). An Enigma2 receiver will lock this around 32% indicated quality.

hi wod from my own setup i put the latest software in the 5402HD receiver, before that i used to get a lot of weak transponders such as 3735R on c-band then when i fired up the receiver all those channels disappeared, when i put the 1.17 ver back in all the channels came back so i am sticking to this ver.

I'm not going to muck about with it. These software updates sound dodgy - no thanks - if it ain't broke don't fix it! :)

ive owned a vu duo and uno and a dm800 and on certain txp,s like mutv@10e the linux boxs wouldnt scan the channels in when the TM/DR-HD ones would although granted these were not fringe. the linux boxs dont use the tuners like the TM/DR-HD as these use broadcom chipsets and dont seem to be compatible. another thing in comparison is the AZbox can do 4.2.2 but the E2 linux boxs cannot. from what i can gather its something to do with certain chipsets use certain tuners. as for the TM5402HD it has a flaw in the blind scan were it cant discriminate on low sr txp,s and puts 45000sr in the data-bank. if your not interested in the 3rd party add-ons then stick with official F/W
