Working my way through the link now. First thing that strikes me is

Step 1: If your Foxsat HDR has an earlier "Loader Version" than U7.54 (I.E. U7.52 or U7.53), then we recommend upgrading the Loader to U7.54, before you update the firmware:

Step 2: When the Loader is at U7.54, you can proceed with the firmware update:

As mentioned earlier, my bootloader is stuck on U7.52. This is never updated over the air as far as I can ascertain and so when HPRSFCI 1.00.21 was sent out OTA it simply installed itself on top of U7.52. Maybe the cause of my problem? Anyway, I'll continue to read...

I think the most important bit, which T pointed out is the name change on the file. On the link I posted it mentioned that for the firmware but not the loader

Thanks John
ST1 has offered to send one to me on Monday so I should be ok. That said it will save him the postage. If I can get in touch before he sends it I'll call in next week!

I tried both renaming the bootloader and leaving as downloaded. Neither worked.

I'm looking at my 256MB pen drive now and thinking of reformatting it - again.

A thought. When they say that the drive should be empty what about hidden files and folders such as System Volume Information?

HAve you looked inside the receiver to check for any other connector (JTag ) for updating ?

No but then again I've absolutely no experience, or equipment, for that.

I have had the case open though ;)

You could take a larger USB stick like a 2, 4 8 or 12 GB and reparation using the software in W7 or above.

Just follow the instructions in the link below. (and sorry I'm not calling anyone a dummy)

Code:
http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-repartition-a-disk-drive-in-windows.html

Just leave the un- allocated partition alone, this way you can make the larger USB stick into a 1 GB stick.

I don't know why people 'raved' about these boxes...I found them slow to boot up, took an age to delete a recording, and my pet hate was it used top revert to live broadcast when it reached the end of the programme, so if you paused the programme to answer the phone, you would miss the end of it unless you remembered to record it....I have never liked Humax software........

Thanks to John´s magic 1GB stick have managed to get loader version U 7.54 and updated to software version HPRSFCI 1.00.21, but there is no happy ending.
Box allows scan in non-freesat mode ( misses all BBC and ITV etc HD ), but will not accept any postcode for freesat scan, including Freesat HQ W1T 1PJ

Now I am stumped. Is the box " ducked " ( with front letter altered ) or is there another cure!

HELP

PS, tried auto update of software via satellite, old response, no update available!

Is it any consolation that you've managed to get further than I could when you managed to update the loader?
