Nope - solly is correct - 5C is C / Ka band.

The footprints suggest no hope of seeing the Ka stuff in Europe though!

...Hi friends ..
Has anyone found a footprint map for Arabsat 5C yet ?
I noticed on Lyngsat that the 4 Channel ETV mux is now supposedly on 3961 L
Also
..another single channel ESTV on 3798 L

Neither of which I get even the faintest signal from..
Which surprised me considering the huge increase in signal generally from 20 East now that 5C is in use..
I can only conclude there are Global ....and East/West or North/South beams in play..
If I could prove this is the case ...and these channels are 'outside' my catch area ...I could give up trying

Odd then ..that if only 1 global beam in use ...the 2 frequencies I mentioned are only visible to a chap called Onacila reported on Lyngsat that is ..
Anyone closer to the UK see these channels ?

hi VS i used to get ETV1-4 but since they changed over not a thing nor ESTV on 3798L,i dont know if ETV has gone or not,maybe there is someone who can say either way.cheers

After finding this single channel listed on Lyngsat ..I had to have a go at snagging it ..
No problems ....a good solid 8db BUT ....the F15 totally ignores it and wont lock ..
Not a sig strength problem ...so there must be something different about the format ..
The TBS card has no such issues ...
Can anyone lock this on a set top box ?
I'm curious now ..

Problem solved ...it was my own stupidity...
It seems I have finally filled the channel list to capacity ..10,000 channels ..
Deleted a few radio channels ..and it scanned and saved first time.

10,000 isn't realistic for a blind scan receiver. I'm over 9,500 services with my main receiver and that hasn't got blind scan, and there are plenty of satellites I have never got around to scanning.

BTW, that channel comes up labelled AlkASS 03 on my receiver, not Doha.

AlkASS 03 on mine too ..
I'm assuming someone more familiar with arabic ..extracted the name from the screen logo ..and this is what is listed on Lyngsat..
As to the channel limitations of the F15 ..I totally agree ..but ..thats unfortunately its max capacity..
I'd like more ..but thats what you get for buying a relatively inexpensive box.

Signal from that transponder is rubbish. Level is 28% SNR on the Vu+ (heavily pixelated on a 3/4 transponder), compared to 62% SNR for 3884 R.

oh well ...it does make you think that 5C carries directional transponders as well as global

Just checked it here VS and no sign of a carrier let alone anything lockable, both Flysat and KingofSat are showing it too.
