not on 11126 V, but on 10964 H (channel 5) and 11054 H (itv´s), cause i have no free DVB-S2 tuner available for now on my dreambox 8000, but very interesting results:

  1. vienna (48,24 N, 16,48 E)
  2. 100 cm
  3. locked
  4. no stable picture, signal strength 8k says at the moment 6,3 db

these are the weeker spotbeam transponders, as now channel 5 is also FTA there, same as ITV.

on my side, the signal get stronger on the morning and reaches on both (c5 and itv) transponders with the 100 cm dish appr. 7,4 db, goes down from 1700 CET to 7,2, which they are now standing, with stable picture.

fyi, the pan european transponders are 11160 and 11171 both H listed, on lyngsat.

Summary so far in order of degrees off axis:

  • Naples Italy, 1.5º, 1.0m, works
  • Stockholm Sweden, 1.5º, 1.5m, works easy (better than 2D)
  • Copenhagen Denmark, 1.5º, 1.8m, works easy
  • Potenza Italy, 1.7º, 1.5m, works on some transponders
  • Malta, 2.0º, 1.2m, 3% SNR above lockable
  • Krakow Poland, 2.0º, 1.8m, works
  • Riga Latvia, 2.5º, 1.8m doesn't work
  • Helsinki Finland, 2.7º, 1.8m doesn't work
  • Kiev Ukraine, 3.1º, 1.1m doesn't work
Hi!,
Can you tell me how to calculate the off axis marked red above?
Or could you please calculate the off-axis for a town called Krosno (Poland)?
Thanks a lot.

I wrote a bit of software to speed things up, but it is pretty simple really, just trigonometry. From point 'A' (centre of the spot beam, in this case Birmingham, 52.50N, 1.90W) work out the distance to the satellite (39178 km). From point 'B' (in this case Krosno, Poland, 49.67N, 21.75E) work out the distance to the satellite (37589 km). Now work out the distance between point 'A' and point 'B'. Note: this is the direct distance which goes below the horizon (2207 km), not the great circle distance (2219 km). Now you have the lengths of 3 sides of a triangle (39178, 37589, 2207) all you have to do is some simple maths to work out the acute angle (2.3º).

Hi

I would like to confirm that Astra IN is available in my hometown Szczecin on my 0.85 m dish. Central lnb position - quality is about 80%. When I use "back" lnb ( Central is Astra 19.2) the quality isabout 60-70%.

My Position is:
53° 26′ 17″ N,
14° 32′ 32″ E

I have tested three Uk Beams trp.

Cheers

Huevos,

In your spare time, do you think you could also calculate off-axis for 2 other towns in Poland?
Warsaw (Polish: Warszawa)
Cracow (Polish: Kraków)

Thanks in advance.

Not strictly true. Horizontals YES on a 1m. I have a 1.25 Echostar and can just get the 11126V C4HD. No rain margin at all. Yesterday it was the 1st to go, followed by ITVs on the H transponders as the rain got harder.

So I would say as a MIN 1.25 or bigger for 1N V&H

I meant Rzeszow (Polish: Rzeszów), not Krakow. You have already calculated for Krakow.

Sorry, I didn't see this until now. Maybe I'll post a calculator so everyone can easily work it out for themselves.

Rzeszów (50.00N, 20.00E), Off axis: 2.0º;
Warsaw (52.25N, 21.00E), Off axis: 2.1º.

hello to all,
so far i have tested the 1 n on a 1 meter dish and the itv and the tv 5 group are working like a champ.
does anyone know if the tv 5 group is still transmitting on the new frequency only or are they on another frequency?
this is using a free to air box and does not need a card at all.
also free view in the uk . why does this require a free view card?on astra 2D it shows in the clear so any receiver can receive this.
i can not test this out here but was wondering if they may have a bbc card or a free view card and it my go light encrypt like tv 5 was.
it was free view but yiou could not receive it with out a card.
tomorrow i will test the astra 1N on a 2 meter dish and see the difference in signals.
ralph
