Astra 2C is now back to 28.2 E, possible 2A migration soon?

I don't think they would move a satellite just for the purpose of interfering with the reception of 2F in fringe areas..There could be other reasons

Will be interesting to see where 2G ends up. I assume 28.5E will be vacant soon too.

when will 2G start?

I do not think this is deliberate. Those are the same frequencies the data was on 1N before it left. They just are switching back some stuff to the lower band for some reason ( like those three other transponders from 2F to E28A)...

My guess is at the end of the year or early next year, depending on when the Russians can get their rockets sorted out...

We could always open a Book!

My guess would be operations starting a year to the day after 2E went live.

Do we know if the data signals from 2C are permanent (until 2G comes into service) or are they test transmissions? The lower signals from Astra 2E/2F became a real problem in our daily life this morning when the picture pixelated during Peter Rabbit on Cbeebies (10773H) this morning... Usually we would watch the channel in HD at 11023H.

The data signals on many of these frequencies have been active in some form for quite some time (even before 2C came back to 28.2E), so I don't think they are tests but I don't think anyone here knows for sure really how long or what satellites they'll use in the future.

Like I keep saying you need to check your skew. Doesn't matter how powerful 2C is setting your LNB skew correctly and that transponder will not show on the horizontal spectrum.

Huevos, I will check my skew. I guess that the cross polarization isolation of the LNB becomes very crucial? I will arrange a Skype conference between my living room (to use the signal meter of my TV set) and the location of the dish to make sure that I am correcting the dish according to the right frequencies. I am still getting the HD channels of the 11464H without interuption, can I assume the 11023H should be about as strong?

For me it is more or less the same strength as all the other 2F transponders. SNR is unaffected by the 2C signal. But if skew is wrong by as little as 1º you start to see the 2C signal on the horizontal spectrum.

11464H is 1.5-2 dB stronger than 11023H. At least in Kungsbacka. It's also using QPSK so the threshold is lower. The signals are all time low now. Someone need to correct these birds and move the null further west...

I have adjusted the skew and managed to improve the signal from the 11023H transponder which I used for the adjustment. Signal quality increased from 75 to 78. When I began working, the picture was slightly pixelated. Now it is perfect. It will be interesting to see if I will be getting a watchable signal tomorrow at lunch time. There has been a pattern of interference between approx. 12:00 and 14:00.

This is why Astra 2C was moved from 28.2 east as it only has 2 European beams & no UK spot beam,
Just a European North & European South beam.

When will this be of public knowledge, after 2G is launched? This useless 2C is getting on my nerves..

SES can be quite secretive when it comes to these things, so we may not know until something happens (and even then it can sometimes be a bit of a guess trying to work out from which satellite a signal is coming from).
