Unfortunately no-one will know until some brave person tries. If you're really unlucky and are situated right on the null then an even larger dish may be needed.

It may be that even a 2.4m or 3m won't be large enough. Someone has to experiment.

Could it be that we are on the edge of a null and we drift in and out of it several times a day? Or is it due to atmospherics, and a bigger dish will overcome our problems? My thoughts are that we just need bigger dishes, but is it possible to measure what is going on somehow?

Huevos gave a very good description of why there are nulls in the Iberia reports thread http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...-balearics-reports.159949/page-17#post-876350

There could more than reason for the variations right at edge of the null. It could be weather; it could be atmospheric turbulence; it could be the satellite being moved by the earth's gravity slightly - there really is no way to predict these slight variations.

Today I noticed that at 16,30 CET ,ITV london was a bit scrambled,ITV+1 was good..I searched the ITV+1transponder ..I noticed that it carried even ITV west Yorkshire...Found the postal code of that area, that is WF16 9BJ...and changed it in the Humax decoder...It' 18,50,CET and the signal is still perfect for BBC1,BBC2,ITV,CHAN 4..Maybe later it will disappear ,but I wasn't able to watch "The chase" and tonight I can..I'm Happy.. For me all the itv channels that are located on astra 2f work better than the 2e ones so I only watch the regional variations that transmit on astra 2f I have installed this to my humax foxsat! It allows you to add all the regional variations to the freesat channel list. It also does some other stuff too ! http://www.avforums.com/threads/med...he-foxsat-hdr-release-4-part-5.1829374/page-7

how do You think about 0 and sidelobe about your area?
I see the II-0 is near Kosice or Uzgorod?
Is Bratislava in middle sidelobe?

My map is not 100pc. sure. I made it according to reports in Czechia ,Slovakia,Poland etc.
But the sidelobe- west PL,down to CZ,A, is very probable.
Also the null going through Slovakia is sure. It can be more eastwards.

Anyway I think you have nice signal relative to your position.
I can get A2E every day around 10.00-14.00. But I know it won´t last long. Only thanks to a good reception conditions.

The report from my area, continental Croatia! With a 2.4-meter antenna 2F has reception 24/7 (all frequencies) and 2E has 15h a day signal only with DVBS frequency. In the period from 18-22h signal is generally bad and unwatchable ...

Today reception virtually impossible, if they keep tweaking the signal like this then some map reports should be re-written

I've seen no evidence to corroborate suggestions of tweaking.

Your variations are far more likely to be due to changes in propagation conditions.

@Tivu. I've noticed a similar drop in signal in my area today. I think you're right about propogation conditions but I wonder what the variables are. We've had a good spell of dry sunny weather - today much the same as yesterday. Are there weather factors in the upper atmosphere which we are unaware of here on the ground?

Hi, I have no reasons to doubt what you say, I may remain sceptical about it but I'm very ignorant on the matter and wouldn't know how to gather any evidence on the matter whatsoever. At this point it would be interesting to know more about this propagations especially for somoene, like me, who needs to upgrade the dish.

The Evidence, such as it is, really comes from the accumulated and widespread reports over time as notified by Members here and in many other Forums.

For example, our own Member, Huevos, monitors all Transponders from 2E and 2F continuously and records hourly variations. These show virtually identical short term and long term trends from both 2E and 2F which strongly suggest that no tweaking is being applied to 2E, otherwise the trends would diverge.

As for Propagation factors, a good starting point is to read this
