Leave any realignment to the professionals! ;)BLUEPLATINUM said:Could I therefore ask the more technical people here to post a few suggestions for us amateurs as to what we can tweak without completely b*ggering up our dishes? Many thanks.
I can easily reach the LNB. The Black Ultra has a very long "neck", so I guess the two adjustments available to me are "distance from reflector" and "scew". Might have a play tomorrow whilst the OT is at work. Permanent marker pen to mark the existing position of everything me thinks! I will definitely NOT be touching the azimuth or elevation of the dish as that would be passing the point of no return!Analoguesat said:Leave any realignment to the professionals! ;)
You could try stringing the dish with monofilament fishing line to see if the reflector is still straight, and tweaking the lnb wont do any harm if you can reach it without leaning on the dish face.
I understand the longer term objective, is to transmit the BBC local news in HD - at least in some regions.timo_w2s said:The BBC 1 HD channels on 11.023H are tests for Scotland and Wales and cannot be tuned in on a Sky box.
Indeed, when I was adjusting my LNB on my 1.8m in Helsinki for Astra 2D (back in the day), I could hardly see the LNB move when I was trying to fine tune it. Perhaps rotating it less than a millimetre at a time from the original mark.Analoguesat said:Yes mark everything before you start - and good luck.
And only move it a tiny amount each time.
Yes, so far only Northern Ireland is live, Scotland and Wales are testing, and England won't be getting regional HD channels for a long time since there are so many and it's too expensive to broadcast them all in HD via satellite.Bob Meade said:I understand the longer term objective, is to transmit the BBC local news in HD - at least in some regions.

Without wishing to drag this thread further off-topic, I'm not sure to be honest.Pedro0102 said:Are the Scotland, NI and Wales BBC One HD versions going to occupy the 101 position in the Sky EPG?
Yes. I believe that the NI version already does. Are the Scotland, NI and Wales BBC One HD versions going to occupy the 101 position in the Sky EPG?
I agree, Canary Island reports are a bit of a surprise - but currently a good one . However, I want to see more time pass and more signals taken up by 2F before I'm content with what we do and do not receive. Clearly it is also dependent on the equipment being used.Analoguesat said:Even with only the first 50 or so reports on the map some interesting trends are coming out.
Theres a distinct arc of green dots appearing - (these are the up to 1m dishes) Im doing most the UK as just one dot - no point filling the map up with useless detail. I would include any reports from the far north of Scotland if we get any
Probably most unexpected to me is the positive reports from the Canary Islands and the negative ones from around Barcalona.
BTW - the negative reports from Malta come from the forum facebook page, you wont find them on the main forum.

Absolutely.Tivù said:And especially how well apparently equivalent equipment is set up.
