11450H/V could be home made.

11450-9750=1700
1700+10600=12300

spurious frequency 12300 was already reported by me. What is at 1700MHz? :-wow

Not the slightest hint of a signal on 11448.

However let me add the frequencies that were used for telemetry during the LEOP of Astra 2F: 11452, 11711.5 and 12491 MHz (see several documents on licensing.fcc.gov). Nothing here either.

again a short proof that the bird is on the route. Both pictures are recorded today at 09:00 p.m UTC

First 40.2E (position checked from my side at 06:15 p.m. UTC) -> -47,3 dBm

43.5E-_near_40_0E_a.png

Now the sat is on exactly 40.0E -> -47,1 dBm

Well that's about 1.75º/day over that period. If that motion were linear over a 24 hour period that mean the satellite would make the journey in less than 9 days, 2 of which have already elapsed.

Now, if the freqs/TPs change when she is moving, it could be so as not to wipe out any other birds but on the other hand it could be that SES are trying something new

As I suggested earlier, AFAIK there aren't any working TP's on that frequency on any satellites likely to be within the range of the intended arc travel of 2F, so it could well keep on the present frequency.

1690...1710 MHz shouldn't be a trouble area, with just meteo satellites, and GSM begins at 1710 MHz.
But there are video transmitters available for 1700 MHz, meant for US market or simply illegally using these quiet frequencies.
How does the spectrum and/or constellation diagram look? Maybe an analog receiver shows video.
Replace the LNB with a short piece of wire at the coax centre conductor, and a world of interference will open up!

Food for thought...

I was trying to get an idea how Solly and Satesco managed to get the spotbeam so far east, so I wrote a program to draw footprint maps. The maps are for a conventional parabola aerial, circular not shaped beam, but are still interesting. Just enter a location for beam centre and the orbital slot and the program draws a map, based solely on maths, not art.

Three lines, blue = 0.5º off axis, green = 1.0º off axis, and red = 1.5º off axis.

Three maps.
1) slotted at 28.2E and pointing at central UK (Birmingham);
birmingham-282.jpg
2) slotted at 43.5E and pointing at central UK;
birmingham-435.jpg
3) slotted at 43.5E and pointing 15º east of the central UK.
birmingham+15-435.jpg

Just a bit of fun while waiting for 2F to arrive at 28E, so please don't take this too seriously.

BTW, if anyone wants any other scenario mapped just post the orbital slot and the location of the beam centre (as long as it is Europe).

Hi !

According to tracking data the ASTRA 2F is now positioned at 38.5 E moving west
1.25degrees/day. It is located 100km outside the clarke belt. Unfortunatly there is a delay in the published tracking data.

United States Strategic Command/NORAD released new trackingdata today but the tracking measurements was actually done on at Sat Nov 10 2012 22:22:36 UTC. This means for sure that the ASTRA 2F satellite for sure was moving on Saturday. Based on current movement of 1.25deg/day ASTRA 2F has most likely been moving since Tuesday 12'th of November.

You can see the current drift rate of 1.255 deg/day west "
