Dunno about other parts of blighty, but it's set to warm up round here next week, might be able to get the first mow of the year done, or might not, depends on whether I can be arsed or not... :-rofl2

It's been too soggy here to even think of mowing, it'd just turn into a liquid something akin to that served up in a vegetarian cafe... :-rofl2

Beat you to the 1st mow by about 3 weeks (and did the 2nd one about a week ago) :D

I rarely need to mow my two small lawns now as they have little grass and are mostly green moss

That's why I use the leccy scarifier twice a year ...... rakes out tons of moss and other thatch.

My lawn is sheltered and damp, so prone to moss, but the gizmo does a grand job.

Well, 3 weeks ago, a snowblower would have been more appropriate round here than a lawnmower... :-lmao

Been having moss problems for many years and last year it was getting pretty bad.

So gave the lawn a good dose of combined lawn sand and grass fertilizer around this time of year, and then manually scraped up all the dead stuff about 2-3 weeks later. However, it was clear that there was a lot of live moss still there and so I did the same again. After that the lawn looked like a "wreck" with bald patches every where (and I got a lot of earache about that from SWMBO).

However, the patches gradually began to fill in over the Summer and Autumn - and now they have almost all disappeared and the lawn looks better than it has for many years, with only a few isolated small patches of moss which now have to be dealt with (same treatment, but localised).

A couple of doses of "Tough Love" worked :)

My lawn is just too wet to use a scarifier or even a lawnmower at the moment

Alright, enough already!!!....the sun is out and I now feel very guilty, so I'm going to give the lawn a quick trim and ask it if it needs something for the weekend...

Just bought a new Viking mower. Smallest they do as my lawn isn't too large. The Viking still seems big though compared to my (30 year old) Qualcast Rotamo, the rotor blades of which are long out of production.

If the Viking lasts half as long as the Qualcast I'll be happy enough.
