@Ervil

For getting 2D in Portugal in SD you don't need a giant dish. The biggest being needed in the algarve at 1.3m. If you go up north dish size shortens. I live near lisbon and use a 1 meter dish with good reception all year.

In case the BBC will broadcast HD in DVB-S you only need a SS2 or similar that costs around 60€ here. The dish is even cheaper.

Hi remlap! You are receiving that signal @10847GHz Vertical, correct? Is that on the T4 DEV-*, or the other channels?

Hi remlap,

The picture looks stunning:D The grab is pretty much 4:3 - but since the bbc blocks look vertically stretched - I take it the actual tests are in 16:9? Correct?

I seriously hope you don't have to watch the whole of the World Cup with 'BBC HD Tests' written all over it. Maybe now is a good time to write them an email'O'

Would you mine sharing how you get the video to work using Coreavc and Dvbviewer - does any other software like progdvb or dvbportal work with coreavc. Thanks

Hi remlap

Does that mean the you use DVBViewer with the codecs from Powerdvd 7 in order to see BBC HD ? If that's the case, is Coreavc still needed ?

When you mention Powerdvd 7,do you know if the trial version is sufficient ?

Finally, I presume that you can see BBC HD in realtime, am I correct ?

Thanks for your help

Ervil

CoreAVC is worth having because im sure there will be an updated with MBAFF that will knock the socks of PowerDVD 7

I can watch in realtime yep, but with any video thats BBC using its slow down to 10-15fps because my processor is not fast enough.

I dont know about the trial version of Powerdvd im sorry

Bugger! I've had that logo on my desktop since 20.00 Wehrmacht time and forgot to post it.

Diamond, what diamond? That diamond, urgh!

Looks worse in colour. Was it remlap that first spoke of the horrid thing?

[edit: Big, I guess you took a screen grab]

Well, remlap, if thats the DOG for a single BBC HD test channel - I am writing to 'Red Bee' (the folks overseeing it). Its horrid.

[the rest is a rant]

I appreciate why it might exist - like Discovery, Nat. Geo., SKY pay whatever - but this is a public funded channel.

History repeats. The BBC have tried these horrid logo things with every digital channel - resulting in some modicum of rejection of the BBC4 logo when some art comes on.

With the exception of BBC2 Learning - they haven't dared to try this on the main channels in primetime - or, any other time.

So, you have just spent an arm-and-a-leg on SKY and a new flat panel - and then this.

More than any other subject - this works me up into a Mochacacacino froff.

Sorry.

And I would probably go balistic if the World cup is emblasened with BBCHDPreview'O' 'O' 'O' 'O' 'O'

Keep me informed ,-)

Hi remlap, so this is where you've been hiding...:D

I don't know if you are still following my DS thread but I've had some bad news, I got an email from Dan "BetaBoy" Marlin last night and he says CoreAVC's MBAFF support has been delayed for a couple of months.

It looks like GPU acceleration is out only option now, have you got it working yet? The Nvidia driver situation is still a bit of a mess but I just found a free trial of the ATI version, not sure if it's the same as the PDVD7 decoder:

http://www.cyberlink.com/cinema/ati/h264_decoder/enu/index.jsp

BTW, according to this:

http://www.vsofts.com/h264/codec-3_0.html

The FREE VideoSoft AVC decoder [used by Intervideo WinDVD7] is also supposed to support MBAFF but I'm buggered if I can get it to work! Feel free to give it a try...:)

Cheers,
Nick
