My Satellite Setup
57E to 58W, C-band and Ku, DVB-S2, 4:2:2 and blindscan.
My Location
38.5ºN, 0.5ºW
Practical experience above would indicate that it is possible though.
Yes, it's possible to bolt them together, but failure rate is going to be high. Some of these motors don't even have an upper bearing.

Seperate 80 cm dish on 28E with a Humax Freesat for SWMBO.
Free Sat V8 meter. Sony Bravia 46" LCD, Sony BluRay and Home Cinema.

I know the Laminas is light (less than 8kg) but it's been hung on my diseqc motor for nearly four years now and still tracks the arc ok. It's not the quickest but I don't mind that. Maybe the motor I use has an upper bearing, I don't know...

My TD110 has happily worked on a Motek clone motor for four years, too.

I think that the general consensus was that over 1m is not recommended and this was fairly well covered by the comments. What also came out was that there is a certain combination of 1.2m dish and motor that does work together. Not as well as proper jack driven unit but tolerably enough.

Some of these motors don't even have an upper bearing.
Wouldn't know about that. Maybe the motors referred to above have such a bearing?
