Best diseqc motor to buy, that does not rust.

Martin I thought of putting bolts in as well, but surely if you do and there are storm force winds (and don't forget that's a 1.2M dish on my motor) you are directing all the shearing forces through the gears and therefore they are at much greater risk of stripping. I'd sooner go through a bit of realignment than having to pay for a new motor.

Thats good the way it bolts straight onto the dish, but im gonna be using a gibertini, so ill have to go for a model like this, hopefully its the same.

I managed to fit a 1m gibby to a v bracket motor, if i remember right i had to drill 2 new holes in the dish bracket and fit some pipe spacers to make it fit.

If going Gib 125, then consider a 36v jack.

Great idea, Looks good. How long do you have that dish installed.
I had it up for about 2 years without any problems, i sold it on to fund my first channel master dish (i really miss the usals option on that motor).

I switched from a diseqc to a 36v 1.2 channel master a year and a half ago, and im getting the urge to switch again.
I always wanted a channel master.
I have all my sats at the bottom of the garden, but the kids are kicking balls around them and there are kids on the back wall,so have to move them incas they get damaged.

I dont really want to go over the whole thing of installing the motorized channel master again, took ages to get it right and this time its going to be on the side of the house not ground level so going to be even harder.
I'm just going to use the channel masters for fixed satellites, and maybe a 1m gibertini and stab120 motor, as i really miss USUALS and its so easy to install.

i set the cm up at ground level on a pole, got the arc right and the actuator position etc. then moved the motor to 1w, i then transfered the dish and mount up the pole at roof line, aligned it to 1w rechecked all adjustments and it was done, not too much time up the ladder at all.

That was handy, I suppose that would work for me as its set up already, just a matter of finding 5w , but i miss usuals and the 1m gibertini was a great dish.

you would have to drill the motor arm as well then, what I was saying on my motor the dish is fixed to the motor so it can only move on the pole, as petes motor it can move on motor and pole,

but thanks for the tip :).

ive never seen one move on the motor spiggot it always tends to be the whole assembley moving around the wall bracket/scaff pole due to the poor design and weak/cheap metal of the brackets on diseqc motors although the stab is better thought out than the tm/darkmotor with V shaped brackets instead of U shaped

surely the 1.2 gibertini cant be that much heavier than the 1m gibertini.
its a great deal heavier due to the backplate/bracket/boom arm although the dish face is very light. a 1.25 shouldnt be used on a diseqc motor unless shielded at ground level from the elements and really needs a polar mount/actuator combo with a 3 inch pole preferably

My dish moved around the motor stub earlier this year for the first time. However I do admit the weakest point of the Laminas design is that the dish bracket has serrations and the clamps merely tighten that bracket onto the stub. It could do with additional toothed clamp brackets as per a normal dish..
