My Satellite Setup
Triple Dragon, Dreambox 8000, Echostar AD3000ip, TBS6522,6925,6983 PCie cards.
Gibertini 1.25m motorised dish driven by the AD3000, with either Inverto BU Quad or Norsat / XMW Ka LNBs . SMW 1.05m + 3 other dishes. Speccy: Promax HD Ranger+
My Location
The Flatlands of East Anglia
BTW I do have stand-alone speccy, an old analogue one which is linked to my Echostar STB. Fine for checking stuff that pops up occasionally, but its tuner is of the old school (950-1750) and my Global upconverter's knackered...

Well ...I have similar problems Llew ..
I built my homebrew some 15+ years ago ...and was intended for Analogue use ..
Hence the tuner is a bit limited ..
I rely on external control for Band switching ..Hi - Lo ...and of but I can at least switch Horzontal and Vertical ..
Generally though I just use a splitter with no power pass from the Analyser..
Thus letting a Suitable receiver provide control
..The end result is I have to make 4 realtime sweeps to cover the entire spectrum.

Ignore any 'wording' on screen ..its no longer relevant ..and wildly off calibration.

Some nice clearly defined traces. No noise showing on the carriers :)

Thanks Llew ..
Yes as you can clearly see the carrier waveforms are somwhat 'blocky'...which is not really surprising as I only used an 8 bit A to D and D to A design..
Still its worked well for some years ..
Back in the analogue days it was more useful ...as a single pass of a given section of the spectrum ..could be 'frozen' in program memory ..then the bottom cursor could be toggled left and right ... to correspond with the various transponder peaks ..
This effectively Manually tuned the receivers tuner and the resulting analogue image would then be displayed on a standard video monitor.
Thus identifying the transponders as the cursor passed them..
Hope that makes sense.
No use these days though ...other than to find satellites when sweeping the dish through the arc..

Just to round off my trip down memory lane ..
Here's the basic block diagram of my old homebrew speccy..
You never know ..it might just prompt someone with less years on the old grey matter to have a go ...

so theres no way of finding out the sr from the spectrum.you still need a blind scan receiver then
All depends on the piece of equipment you use. For example if you use something like the Prodig-5 you just place the cursor over the peak and it reads out all the details of the channels on that transponder, SR, FEC, PID, etc.

Has anyone checked out the Telemann 1680s2 spectrum?

SPECTRUM ANALYZER with ROTATOR CONTROL
Convenient & quick searching by Project name setting
I/Q Constellation Diagram (HD Level 8PSK)
Pre-BER, Post-BER, SNR & MER measurement
Blind scan for DVB-S, DVB-S2, DSS & TP list
Easy upload & download new satellite file list
Data Logger with USB port
Specturm Analyzer
Accurate level measurement
Peak level detection : CODE, LEVEL, OFF
DiSEqC 1.0/1.1/1.2(Rotator) supporting
Easy portable & lightweight type
Li-Poly Battery [1680S2]

Blindscan dvb-s2? why would a spectrum analyzer have this feature? From the pictures on the Telemann site, it reports the SR and other info. Anyone have one?
