A 150 second exposure of what went on last night. Not your usual storm though I was witness to something similar near Lecco many years ago, where the mountains that were visible from the campsite we were staying simply vanished behind blackness, one by one over about five minutes. We managed to get to the main hut just as the storm arrived, tents and motorbikes on the site were blown about and then submerged to a depth of about 30-40cms of grass and mud.
We stayed overnight and were provided lashings of beer followed by grappa to aid strength for the morning dig.

Already WAY beyond +36C!

Latest Met Office update at 17.00 said a new record of 38.1C, and I saw between 39C and 41.5C on the car's dashboard readout when I took stuff (cut the Front Hedge this morning before the Sun got TOO hot!) to the recycling centre earlier this afternoon.

We also had a warning from our neighbourhood PCSO not to take the dogs (we don't have one, so not a problem for us ) for walks because they might burn their paws - probably true, but still funny.

We flew back into Tours from the UK on Tuesday. The car thermometer read 45C when we got in and didn't drop below 40C until we were half way home.
