In my neck of the woods, we've been having an unusually long spell of mild to warm (upper teen to mid 20's degrees), dry & mostly sunny weather in that the last recorded rain was just after midnight on Sunday 20th May, almost three weeks ago! I'm struggling to remember such a prolonged dry spell of weather here, usually going a week without any rain is a bit odd let alone three in succession! You'd definitely know it's a dry spell with the farmers cutting pretty much every blade of grass growing in the fields to build up silage supplies, and then spreading the slurry on not long afterwards! And that was over two weeks ago!

The weather forecast for later today (Saturday 10 June) is giving a small chance of rain in late afternoon/early evening, with chances of thunderstorms at the start of next week - the aforementioned farmers will definitely be looking for rain soon!

And knowing my/our luck, the rest of June along with July & August will end up becoming washouts!

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Had a real "Master Blaster" of a thunderstorm about 40 mins ago - but forecast for the London area seems dry & warm for the next 6-7 days , so roll out your BBQs!

We had about 15 minutes of tropical rain yesterday, but less than five today.

The garden had hoped for much more.

Our lightning detector has just started pinging, suggesting a storm around 10-15 miles away.

Started raining here in W. London about 1/2 hr ago, and now fairly solid - no lightning yet - should be gone by 22.00-23.00, but back again on Tuesday onwards according to the Met Office.

Rain has arrived in Kelso - the first time the ground has been wet for weeks. All the other showers in recent days have amounted to a few drops - not even enough to wash the dust off the car!

What a contrast for the last few days, and especially today, the sunshine and heat are proving - when I went into the conservatory at around 10.30 this morning the temperature was 40C before I opened a window!

ATM, the temp in the garden is probably over 30C, and the surrounding buildings and fences prevent much natural wind cooling.

So, I'm not going outside until at least 4 or 5pm when the sun drops behind the house and the garden temp starts to drop - that's why I'm boring you all with my asinine comments this afternoon:-rofl2

It's gone much cooler up here. I've just had to wait for a rain cloud to pass by so that I could hang he washing outside. I could swear I felt a few drops falling from the sky as I finished...

Outside detector suggested 31.8 an hour ago, inside is between 26 and 28 degrees, but closer to the latter.

Thankfully the wind has just picked up.

Walked round to my daughter's house a little while ago and on the way back it started raining again. Looks like the clothes are getting a final rinse on the line...

Met Office forecast for W. London area predicts a drop to around 22-24C (& max 25C) from tomorrow for at least the next week with occasional rain towards the end of it.

If that proves true then Thank Goodness^_^

It's fairly calm down south at the moment - a small breeze but nothing that would make me think that there's a named storm out there.
