CANAL, TNTSat: Is it possible to descramble Nagravision, Mediaguard or Viaccess?

I have a satellite dish pointed to Astra 19.2E. This satellite broadcasts a scrambled signal for the channels of CANAL and TNTSat. They can be descrambled with a smartcard (monthly subscription for CANAL; one-time-fee smartcard valid for 4 years for TNTSat).
Just to take up a technical challenge, I'd like to know if tech-savvy folks here have been able to descramble satellite signals encoded with Nagravision, Mediaguard or Viaccess. I'd like to be able to watch these channels on my laptop, connecting a USB-DVB-S2 tuner, and some software utilities to descramble the signal (possibly without a smartcard or a satellite receiver). Is it possible at all, in 2025? From what I read, it looks like the encryption companies have done a very good job making it difficult to descramble the streams... If it's ever possible, where to get started?

You can use a CI+ CAM in an Enigma2 receiver with an official card and stream that your laptop. But that's it.

I was thinking about buying a brand new TV altogether, with support for CI+ modules, not requiring a separate set-top box. That would be so much better if it worked out of the box. I did a quick search, and it seems that TVs with a DVB-S2 tuner and a CI+ module slot are not numerous. But when a TV has a CI+ slot and a DVB-S2 tuner, the problem, then, is finding the right PCMCIA module that is compatible with Nagravision, Mediaguard and Viaccess, as these are the 3 encryption protocols used to (de)scramble these specific TV channels. I found modules that are compatible with only one of them (e.g. only Viaccess), and other modules that are sold with a SmartCard to receive other TV channels that don't apply to me (e.g. Fransat, broadcast on a different satellite). On this page, a satellite TV dealer responds to F.A.Q. and reports that there's no CI+ module compatible with TNTSat. Are they right, or do they say so only because there's no official solution that they sell themselves?

I found Powercam Pro, a PCMCIA module that is reported to work with TNTSat (and CANAL). However there are hints this doesn't work (anymore): the web site of the manufacturer isn't accessible anymore; there are a bunch of second-hand ones for sale in the classified ads. It looks like, in any case, the firmware of that PCMCIA module isn't maintained anymore to keep up with the changes added to the supported encryption protocols.

Is it possible to receive these satellite channels directly on a TV with a CI+ slot? If so, do you know a PCMCIA module that is compatible with TNTSat and that is still actively maintained?

il n y a rien de compatible avec tntsat ou C+ en pcmcia pour les particuliers.
il n y a que le viaccess pour fransat et la suisse et meme absat .
le powercam n est plus fabriqué et maintenu et il n était pas compatible avec les dernieres evolutions du seca et viaccess .
j ai pas l occasion d essayer mais il marche peut etre encore en irdeto et conax et en viaccess simple comme la suisse .

There's nothing compatible with TNTSAT or C+ in PCIe for individuals.There's only ViAccess for Fransat and Switzerland, and even Absat.
PowerCam is no longer manufactured or maintained, and it wasn't compatible with the latest developments in Seca and ViAccess.
I haven't had a chance to try it, but it might still work with Irdeto and Conax, and with simple ViAccess like Switzerland.

They replied, and they don't sell PCMCIA modules compatible with CANAL and TNTSat SmartCards.

I agree, why don't you go through FRANSAT?
They supply PCMCIA directly with a card.
I have three of them, one on my 2019 Sony, one on a 2012 Samsung, and one on a 2015 TCL.
You can regularly find them cheaply on Le Bon Coin.
 
Do you know if Fransat CAMs work on Vu+ receiver, Openvix image?

The best way is goldstream on 5w , all French channels (TNT ) are FTA

they did on a vu solo 4k. My official card stopped working a year or so ago though. It may have been due to the card needing replacing as is was an old revision. It was also possible to use the card via an emulator. Image dependant though, some by default were ci+ compatible and some needed the ci+ helper plug in installed.

Yes I know that. I think that Openvix is not a CI+ compliant image. But is Fransat CAM such CI+ module? Not sure.

my cam was by neotion ci+ 1.3/ was the card utilisng this though? no idea. it just worked. Would download updates to the cam occasionally. was purchased simply for the UHD channel, mainly for Roland Garros.
 
Fransat use CI+ modules. I used to have one. The Fransat cards are only valid for four years and after that they need to be replaced.

Understood. So, no chance to use such CI+ module in the Vu+ unless I install such specific plugin.

I'm using a Vu+ DUO 4K SE with the VTI image and it runs the CI+ cam from Tivusat without problems.
Haven't installed anything more than the VTI image (no extra plugin).
Have never tried Fransat in this receiver though.

I tried the Fransat cam (also CI+ as already mentioned) in my old Vu+ DUO2 and never got it to work and didn't bother with it but read on a couple of forums that it should be possible.

the ci helper plugin had quite a few versions for diffrent images. ive not tinkered my e2 box in years. The latest cards my have closed the loophole
