Not sure what is causing this to occur ? but it has but it has become much worse this past year .. i,m thinking of scraping and lightly sanding the affected areas then sealing the whole dish face with F - Glass resin ... can anyone suggest something to stabilize the affected areas prior to sealing and repainting ?

Some pics below ... Pics 4 and 5 show close up where i have scraped and sanded deeper to see if the mesh is still intact .. and it appears to be undamaged - or at least unbroken ... and its just the surface / covering layer that is breaking up ?

I welcome any suggestions .... :)

Never seen that before Nelson, had any acid rain or have been spraying something close by with something toxic that's interacted with the resin coating ?

Its possible that it was exposed to something in the past perhaps ? - i don,t know where it was situated prior to my owning it - i bought it second hand from a dealer in Belfast ... .. there was some of the same surface break up at the very top right hand side when i bought the dish some 8 or 9 years ago ... which i scraped off and painted over .... then painted the whole dish face about 5 years ago ... but in the past couple of years its started braking up like that all over the dish face ..... i have other smaller Channel Masted dishes here possibly older than this one .. no similar issues with them ?

Do you live in an area that has freezing weather during the winter?? If so then it's water getting in behind the front layer of gelcoat (last layer between the mesh and front of dish) and freezing when it's cold enough, thus causing a blister.

This happens sometimes when the dish gets old, many freeze thaw seasons and wind flexing can cause micro cracks to form.

Seen this in areas (like Montana) at CATV sites, the big dishes had to be sanded and re-coated almost yearly.

My 1.8 was starting to see water penetration a couple of years back after rain especially in the winter, you could see all the back ribbing clearly at the front of the dish. I cleaned it let it dry out and painted the front and back. The problem went away and its still ok today. Strange Nelson not seen one that bad before..
