More less completed it now. Needs some new cabling and tidying up. Working very well..not much tweaking will be needed. I drilled an extra home in the Fibo boom arm to throw the Ku Feedhorn forward so that then allows the sub reflector to move into situ without fouling the boom arm. Nothing has been cut so it could all go back together on a Fibo reflector if ever needed.20240209_155703.jpg20240209_160402.jpg20240209_155651.jpg

Very cool! That Ku LNB shadow on the C LNB does bug me though (OCD). I wonder if it's worth thinking about pushing the motor back towards the dish a bit and then attaching both the Ku LNB and the sub-reflector as one unit on the flywheel.

That's just it..the Ku LNB is static on the boom arm, not sure I follow what you mean? The shadow is very minimal and makes no difference whatsoever to C Band reception. It is not shadowing the LNB throat at all..If I was to put the Ku LNB back on the flywheel I would lose the dual optics..

It would still be a double reflector. You would put both the Ku lnb and the sub reflector on the motor and have it rotate together. Maybe I need a drawing to explain what I mean

Do you mean replace the Ku LNB on the boom arm with C Band, then have the sub and Ku on the motor?

I'll have to draw a picture! Maybe my thinking is too out there... Honestly, if it works, there's no need to change anything!

I think @Captain Jack means like in this video.

Yes, I did look at this option, but it would be a major redesign job. It all works the way it is..I think also a full size C Band conical scalar would block the signal from the sub. You can see Wim is using smaller scalar plates possibly for that reason..

I see what you are saying but would using the sub reflector remove the need for the conical scaler as the sub reflector is managing the ilumination of the main reflector? I see the original Fibo ku feed is just a conical horn not a corrugated feed horn.

I am 78% sure that it's corrugated inside.

Certainly possibe CJ. To maintain the correct angle ( the sub and feedhorn holder are threaded at different angles) and distance from the sub to the Feedhorn I would probably have to cut the original boom arm, not ideal, but if anyboby has a spare boom or could fabricate one, (Rimnants, Trust) then certainly worth a shot.

I wonder if C band would also benefit from a dual reflector set up though, even without a full feedhorn.

I tried it with 1.2 Fibo somewhere in 2016
