This has worked quite well the last couple of years on other forums so Im bringing it here this year Plenty of notice is being given so folk can get set up in plenty of time.
The idea is that by using the channels on the European satellites you see how many midnights we can find. (12 last year - can we do better this year?)
First one of the day is 2pm uk time when Sky News goes over to Sydney for the Australian celebrations. We then work westwards through places like China, Vietnam, Thailand an Kazakhstan until we reach midnight in the UK (where I normally watch the celebrations in Portugal!)
Everyone is welcome to join in, although it will work best for the European members as we have access to a more diverse set of channels. Ideally you need access to Hotbird & Astra 1 - although a couple of the channels are carried on Sky UK.
I'll be posting pics on the thread and anyone else who has the capability is asked to post pics of what they find as well.
Why do it Im often asked? Well no reason really.
Its a bit of fun, its completely pointless, its a chance to see how other cultures celebrate their new year, and its a chance to have a few drinks as well (if any excuse was needed!)
See you NYE if you are interested. :-hny
