Hello everybody
I am ready for tomorrow!
I've also got my trusty radio to keep me company... will probably listen to Simon Mayo & Mark Kermode's film review of 2010 on BBC Radio Five Live at 2PM. Then some music later in the day. Maybe Roger Day on BBC Sussex from 6PM, or some of the French radio stations on Astra 1.
I'm also a licensed radio amateur, so will be keeping an ear on the local 2m / 70cms repeater... might get to chat to some people nearby.
Mr Analoguesat Sir - Snap for the drinking schedule at 3PM!
My drinking schedule for tomorrow is something like:
1500 - Ashai from Japan
1830 - Cobra from India and a big curry (courtesy of Tesco!)
2100 - Vodka and orange (the bottle has Russian-style writing on it!)
2200 - Ouzo from Crete (went on holiday there in 2008)
2300 - Leffe beer from Belgium / French mulled wine from Picardy ("Hypocras")
0000 - Scottish whisky and Tesco ginger wine ('whisky mac')
Plus other things I can lay my hands on, as and when.
Also, I echo Analoguesat's comments about what Sky News may or may not show. Whilst I doubt that HM will snuff it overnight, if a mahoosive news story breaks or develops, then the news channels with go with that in preference to 'midnights'. I guess the obvious ones are developments in the NI water situation, or the landlord of Joanna Yeates' landlord actually being charged with her murder.
Re: The Dubai hotel at / around 2000. I ought to be able to receive the 10E APTN feed with no problem, and should j.u.s.t about be able to receive the transponder (12.110) from Arabsat / Badr at 26E. I'll try to get some pictures.
Geordieman - You're obviously well into this, but I notice that you only have Freeview. May I make a suggestion? Over the next year, keep your eyes open for bargains in the satellite department.... For example, dishes abandoned at the side of roads(!), cheap FTA satellite receivers at car boot sales, offers at DIY chainstores etc.
I saw a Fortec Star on sale at a carboot sale in 2009 for ONE POUND, and for some reason or other, I didn't buy it! GUTTED! :-googly
If you could even manage just a small fixed dish pointing at 13E and a really basic satellite receiver, you could increase your number of midnights dramatically. If somebody with my non-existant DIY skills can wire up a system, I'm sure you can mate! Just see higher up in this thread for ideas where you can mount a dish! I used a road-cone, Analoguesat has used car tyres in the past...
Anyway I'm sure lots of people will post lots of screen grabs here (me included, all being well) so tomorrow will be good fun.
Take care, good sat reception, night night!
