Well, usually those are house parties with some cheesy concert either in public broadcaster's LTV1 or TV3.
15 minutes before midnight all channels are showing president's and prime minister's wishes in the New Year's followed by an anthem and then fireworks live from Riga - 11.novembra krastmala.

@PaulR - here's my old profile: bite
Found on the old "Chasing midnight eve's" topics, don't remember e-mail though, all my e-mails trying to recover it under "Forget my password" shows that they are incorrect.

The bell has been 'played' on JCTV1...

View attachment 89127

btw what is the correct english term for 'playing' (hitting) church etc bell?
I suppose the correct term would be striking the bell,in the Japanese way,whereas the English way,would be refered to as bell ringing.

Finally back from work and managed to catch midnight in South Korea.

KBS World wasn't too interesting, a live awards show but they still stopped for the countdown

Aiirang seemed to show some celebrations but cut to a reporter after a minute (she looked a bit scared as you can see :D)

I imagine,they will be very subdued,due to the funeral of Kim Yang-Gon,the top aide of Kim Jong-Un today,which was shown earlier by Al Jazeera Mubasher.

Ha ha actually 10 seconds after posting that question Anita Ward's Ring My Bell started mysteriously playing in my head :-rofl2

I suppose the correct term would be striking the bell,in the Japanese way,whereas the English way,would be refered to as bell ringing.

Thanks. In Finnish its 'Kirkonkellot soivat' = 'The church bells are ringing'. 'Soida' = 'to play' so from there I mistakenly first thought it was 'playing' ;)

AJM has gone back to Seoul. Apparently the clock is still being "struck".
