Er, no. Comag is a manufacturer in its own right and has been making receivers for at least 15 years. Philex is definitely not the OEM company.

I see, yes it even has the bundled games that the Maplin Comag does. So it's a case of Comag manufactures, then Philex brands as Tevion.

If the card reader is real, there should be a opition for it in the main menu, i.e. "Card Reader details" or the like!?

Pretty sure it's empty, no menu option either.

Back in this Thursday at a cheaper price too.

Moved house since last post. Set my dish up on top of a wheelie bin (also with bungee cord to secure as sucker is a bit naff). Always get Astra 28.2e and 19.2e no problemo. Really want to try for 13e Hotbirds -sure I can remember getting that before on one of my hunts. I get a bit worried when hunting with the included Satfinder that the neighbours may get cheesed off because of the horrendous squealing noise it emits. I guess I'm better off just using the STB signal meter + portable TV, unless they make a cheap silent finder (just meter display)?

You can get a wee sat finder with a headphone socket with a supplied set of inner ear headphones, no squealing!!

You can, but it's just as much if not more expensive than the ALDI gear. Saying that, to get a separate dish with carry bag and tripod would be an advantage.

Ah right thanks. Looks like I'll put up the minidsh and tripod kit I got from eBay. There's a reason it only cost £3, it works but I don't trust it staying in the same position!

Finally managed to align to Hotbirds at 13e see attached grabs:). Noticed audio can slip out of sync on some channels. -Does anyone have any theories on why this is happening? Most signals are around 40-50% so don't if it is poor signal or the receiver?

A bit of outdated information on this thread:

The Tevion 28208ALD is NOT a Comag clone.

That refers to the older Tevion Mini Satellite System _http://www.genuinecopies.tv/remotes/brands/im/dtv/tevion_1435-mini-satellite.jpg

The newer Tevion 28208ALD _http://www.philex.com/ProductImageDownload.aspx?filename=33-1-original.jpg
which is what the OP is using, runs on Conexant CX24303 based hardware (the Comag boxes use an ALI chipset).

This box is also sold elsewhere as the Philex/Skyline 28207RF, Star Track SR-140, Digitlink 1210 and probably other names out there.

Thanks Informer101 for the info.

Says in the manual software update via Astra 19.2 E

Has anyone had a box update using this method? Surely you would have to be tipped off when these are broadcast if 19.2e isn't your satellite of choice. My only experience with OTA updates is with Freeview gear (terrestrial television) which have worked very well.

Pretty sure on my box, not a Comag, I picked up a data channel saying Comag, as well as others.
