Probably was the warning on Sunday, but I didn't see that and didn't see/hear anything to that effect on the recorded Eurosport report that I viewed this morning (not that those "reports" are that "forthcoming" most of the time, Carlton Kirby being who he is:rolleyes:!).

The organisers of the Dakar had no choice but to cancel stage 9, which was supposed to take place between Tupiza and Salta on Monday. Weather conditions in the area in the last few days are preventing assistance crews from refurbishing race vehicles for tomorrow's stage after the demanding marathon stage. The field of the Dakar will therefore head to the Salta bivouac by road. The rally will resume with stage 10 from Salta to Belén.

Stage 9 cancelled

Slightly off-thread, but Eurosport on Sky "did it again" with the late summary last night! The previous programme was delayed /extended and so the programmed coverage of Stage 11 was late, and only recorded about 1/3rd of the Stage 11 part before it ended. Why cannot Eurosport have the same facilities of series-record and automatic delaying of recordings when a broadcast is delayed as many other channels?

Many thanks for the link, and I've just had the chance to have a look at a few of the videos - unfortunately, today has not been a good one here for a variety of reasons (notably my wife had a cataract op on Tuesday but she was in a lot of pain last night and thought the eye might be infected and so we had to go into Central London to see the surgeon who did the op. Luckily it's not infected but she needs some different eye-drops - and that's another story as well. And. of course, there were/are other things which did/do/will need doing urgently over the next 3-4 days!)
