Nelson_b I must have missed the thread about your use of a conical Scalar on a 1.8 m offset dish. Can you tell me if this device improves your signal over a flat Scalar? On 1.2 m CM offset many report no difference.
hi - Satcom1 -
to be honest i,v never compared the conical Scalar to a flat scalar
until very recently i was under the impression that a conical feed was needed-- on a offset dish -- whatever the size
but as you have said - and elsewhere - i have read , some say no benefit on a larger dish .
i have a flat scalar and will compare it when i get the chance --
i bought a DMX741U combination C and k.u. l.n.b. including dielectric plate and conical feed -- from america -- early this summer
a flat scalar came as part of that package
the DMX741U was rather a dissapoinment to me - for use on a offset dish here in england
the C band side was not too bad but was outperformed by the £11.00 pauxis that i got from china -l.o.l.
and the K/u part was poor for use on a offset dish ---
the feed in the k/u part is designed for prime focus -( flat scalar ) so will only pick up very strong satellites -- and the signal is weakened futher by needing the dielectric plate inserted in order to recieve the C band L and R circular transponders -- that are mostly used for C band-- here --and in Europe
i,m sure the DMX741U works well enough for most peoples needs on a large prime focus dish
poor weather forcast tonight for n.w. england tonight --
i will report my comparison findings - when i can
