I tried it when I lived in a high rise, I got a tiny bit of signal but not enough to lock. I think the glass was treated.

OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
As long as it's not anti-UV double pane glass it should work fine.

The anti-UV glass has a very very very fine metal coating on it, (you can't see it) the 11 to 12 GHz signals coming down from the satellites don't like it too much.

why do the leaves of the trees and shrubs stop the signal, and for example; not a curtain of cloth.

okay, but still strange.
On the internet you read that there should be nothing between the dish and the satellite. That the dish must see the satellite, as it were

the Pic 3 (outside) Philips dish looks interesting, with 2 reflectors a small & a large one.
Does this double reflection increase signal much?
and what 's that type of dish called?

I drove past the old SPECTRUM shop in Selsdon yesterday.
It is now a Kitchen and Bathroom appliances shop but the old Grundig 1.2m Gregorian dish dish from the SPECTRUM days still seemed to be on the wall.
I did not get the chance to get a good look at it as the shop is on the corner of a junction and the traffic lights were changing so I nipped through without having a good look.
