AZ-Box Elite HD - 97cm technomate dish. Single inveto black ultra lnb. Motorized system. Reach 1 to 37.5 west and 5 to 28 east only due to positioning near fence.

20 to 30%, I bet had not put on motor, been 35%, breaking up, no mind, pity though. See left for my set up details.
I reckon about 1.2m for UK, middle to south anyway.

hi just trying to catch this in next weekend.. any suggestion? i have 120cm dish which is currently set on badr 4, it is starting to lose channals so switching to nilesat.. reading many posts in this forum, am confused, so can some one tell me :
1- what is the best & strongest frequency to set my receiver on, so can set up Dish orientation faster?
2- i used to know that it is ok to get the Vertical but not the horizontal, but now am reading that actually we can only receive Nilesat 102?
3- which one of those can I receive in south UK
- Atlantic Bird 7 ?
- Nilesat 101 ?
- Nilesat 102 ?
- Nilesat 201 ?
cheers

i know nilesat 201 is impossible, seem Atlantic Bird 7 is good for H & V, but 101 & 102 seem only good for V? isn't?
another QS, is what is best time during the day to try to locate the SAT, i know back in France it was stronger by end of day? but that was 8 years ago ? is it the same? should i go in morning or mid day or before sunset?

Here, Atlantic Bird comes in quite strongly without a significant drop in signal day or night. 101 and 102 are just the same as they were, verticals stronger and more available during the day with horizontals coming in later on a night, usually after 22:00 CET.

If you align using Atlantic Bird 7 you should be ok for the other sats, as it's co-located at 7°W with 101 & 102.

cheers

Well, Tours isn't too far south of me (3 - 4 hours drive) and I can get most verticals 24/7 and most horizontals after 21:00 on a 1 metre Gibertini. On my 1.2M Laminas, I get nearly all V & H T/P's 24/7 from 101 & 102 and Atlantic Bird 7 has a good rainfade margin (a bit of a bonus!!)

cool
i moved to London since 7 years now :( so guess 120cm (in my terrace) should be fine for most verticals
i just checked

l=http://www.dishpointer.com

(integrated with google map) and it seem there is a 4 story office building 42m far from my dish in terrace, building is taller than normal building as one room hight is 5m not 3m, but site is telling me that it should be no more 25m higher, which is ok, as still it give me 6m margin
i will search first for Atlantic bird 2 8.0°W which u can get with 45cm dish, then small amendment and can find 7.0°W easily

anyway am gonna try to correct the dish focus , as i guess it is not 100% focused .. am gonna try the mirror/sun method, is there any other trick to help me correct dish focus to LNB? as I think the LNB Arm is not really in the right angle or right position (i had to tape it to correct the focus to receive Badr 4) and that will sure gonna make my attempt to search 7.0°W much harder, so need to fix that first.. any ideas?

i hope iam not hijacking this thread but a friend of mine was asking me what size dish he needed for nilesat, so i tried myself with my own 90cm dish and was astonished to find that al jazeera sport 1,2, global was working, iam in southampton in the south of england. The MENA (Middle East North Africa) Beam works best in the UK speaking from personal experience.

easy to locate Atlantic bird 7, took me 10 min, just located Atlantic bird 2 euro beam, and voila..
problem .. after hours of twicking .. can't get hold of any of Verticals of 101 and 102 !! am targeting MBCs one.. should I be able to receive them in Lonodn using 120cm using nverto Single Ultra LNB? it become dark so early those days so will try next time when it is sunny?
but am starting to worry that i may need bigger dish than 120cm for verticals in 101 & 102.

I think my mistake is i focused on AB7 as it is the strongest one.. but now i know it is 7.3W, so my assumption that by fixing my dish on strongest AB7 signal & quality thus i will get 101 & 102 was wrong.. as i should had focused on 101 & 102 instead to tune my dish as they seem the weakest signal .. will give it a try when it is sunny again and come back

Hi Alanko ..
120cm dish with a high gain lnb like the Black Ultra should give you a handful of vertical transponders on 101 and 102 ...assuming they are still in use that is ..and haven't migrated over to AB7
The vertical transponders are/were however quite Time of Day dependant ...
For me giving best results around 10pm at night..

thanks for reply Vipersan
as i said earlier, I think my mistake was that i thought if i get best signal in AB7, i will automatically get 101 & 102 .. i jsut knew later while searching this forum that AB7 is actually 7.3W not 7, so optimizing my dish to that was wrong.
today weather is bad, will try next time is sunny here (GOD knows when :D )
meanwhile am getting Verticals in 101 & 102 (while aligned to AB7 7.3W) at night around same time you mentioned , what you are saying above mean that is best i can get? I thought we should get majority of verticals but horizontals are the one which will be stronger around that time, are you sure you were referring to verticals?
thanks again for the reply

I'm located in Ipswich and would like to be able to get the Abu Dhabi Sports channels. Is there anyone relatively local to me who can get them. If so what size dish are you using?

Abu Dhabi Sports is on Nilesat 201 no signals received here with a 100cm dish as this has a very tight footprint,

Only Atlanticbird-7 & Nilesat 101/102 received here with a 100cm dish over 600 x tv,

I would think that you are going to need a 240 to 300cm dish for Nilesat 201 but as we are well outside the coverage area there are no guarantees that you will receive this satellite with any consistency.

Absolute minimum dish size will be 2.4m - possibly quite a bit bigger.

And thats a well set up good quality dish costing several hundred pounds - not the cheap 99 quid dishes you can get mail order with the approximate tensile strength of wet tissue paper!

Your would be better of looking at the Abu Dhabi Sports channels at 26.e that seems to be a slightly easier catch in the UK,don't forget that package comes with a dedicated receiver which i believe has a fairly week turner

Good Evening billllll,

Dubai racing on Nilesat 201 at 7.0°W frequency 11785 V DVB-S SR 27500.
All depends on dish size in Norwich for Nilesat 201 reception in your region.
